Bezman

A 'secret' message

Posted by Bezman Jan. 2, 2009 @ 12:08 PM EST

I'd like to give you all this gift.

I recommend either completing the maze with a brightly coloured brush in some digital program or printing out the 300dpi version and filling it in with a thick, coloured pen, crayon, brush or pencil. Something that shows up.

I won't bother repeating what it says. ;-)

I think I can guess what it says

Jan. 4, 2009 | 8:11 PM Bezman responds:

:-D

If you can read it without actually 'doing the maze', you have a good eye.

Gasp, you too as well, my scottish friend! You've got a quite an eye for creating these mazes and I'm sure you've got a number of projects you wish to complete this year. :-)

It's pretty awesome that you're attending the 4th London Meet, I do envy you Bez. If only it would cost me £30 to travel to a Newgrounds Meet, shucks. Thank you for the "gift" and good fortunes to ye.

Jan. 4, 2009 | 8:12 PM Bezman responds:

Yeah. And to think I almost didn't attend the 1st one.

I'll be sure to let you know how the blanketty blank goes. I'm going to PM Tom just now, teasing him about the secret thing.

ahh i saw the message before i did the maze

but im bored , so thought i may as well do it in photoshop anyway :D

Jan. 7, 2009 | 4:30 PM Bezman responds:

I guess that's the problem with such thin letters and a fixed baseline/height. Hard to disguise those letters...

Glasgow FTW.

Jan. 7, 2009 | 4:29 PM Bezman responds:

You live in Glasgow?

Fancy coming out to Pivo Pivo next thursday?

Jan. 8, 2009 | 6:58 AM Bezman responds:

Hey dad.

Jan. 11, 2009 | 6:48 AM Shreddy says:

can we have a new maze please mr bezman??

orrrrr.... make a flash version! :)

Jan. 13, 2009 | 4:39 PM Bezman responds:

I don't think a flash version would offer any benefits over a paper version.

Not when it comes to a maze that 'paints a pictures'.

A giant maze (which only shows you a small portion) could totally work though, but may not be fun to many. And it's already been done with a random maze generator, leaving no need for another. :-/

There SHALL be another paper-based-maze though. :-)

Jan. 13, 2009 | 3:11 PM Wasim says:

I can read it without doing the maze and WITHOUT my glasses.

It says HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Jan. 13, 2009 | 4:39 PM Bezman responds:

You are correct.

Jan. 13, 2009 | 3:13 PM Wasim says:

MARCH 12TH 2009!

ONE DAY BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY!

Jan. 13, 2009 | 4:36 PM Bezman responds:

Consider the not-so-secret suprise a birthday present! Hope I have time to make it rock. :-)

Jan. 18, 2009 | 8:56 PM UrxNitemare says:

You should make like... a maze puzzle. Each day put a different part of the maze up and people have to put it together right, and then figure it out. I don't know, I'd feel more accomplished having figured out two separate puzzles, but thats just me.

Jan. 22, 2009 | 6:37 PM Bezman responds:

hrmmmmm...........

I like this idea.

Jan. 19, 2009 | 2:19 PM ChromeShark says:

Think this is posible without visiting Ha, so mine says PPY NEW YEAR : p Love this idea though!

Hope the rest of London was good for you, will look forwards to seeing you again next meet (or maybe before I hope, drop me a message if you're passing through B'ham) : D

Jan. 22, 2009 | 6:33 PM Bezman responds:

Will do! Stay excellent, Mark.

But I think you DO need to visit the HA. There's a line between the upper part of P and the lower part, that you can only cross by going round... I wanna see your solution!

Jan. 22, 2009 | 1:51 PM Mogly says:

Hehe I read it without doing it after seeing your one for JPI. Bez what do you think of this idea, I said it to JPI after I saw your maze..

You know how often people will cheat on a maze by doing it backwards ( so that it is easier), well you could think of a way of cursing them for doing so. You could switch the 'start' and the 'end' around, so that by starting at 'the end' they are actually going from the beginning. Get it?

Would this work? I havent thought it all through and havent done a maze since I was younger anywho.

Another idea to add to that would be to use your secret message. What if, somehow, by starting at the end, it takes them round a course which spells out 'dont cheat' when they finally reach a dead end? I don't know how that would work exactly :)

Cool seeing you again, buhbye.

Jan. 22, 2009 | 6:37 PM Bezman responds:

Nah, this message is just not as well disguised. Thin letters and consistent baseline make it obvious. Was good seeing you!

Neither the 'start' nor 'end' should actually make the maze any harder if you arrange it properly - have lines 'continuing off' and 'bending off', whichever side you approach from.

I don't think the 'don't cheat' idea is actually possible. But it gave me a grin.

Jan. 22, 2009 | 3:47 PM EyeLovePoozy says:

I want to yank your mustache you funny fucker you. =D

Jan. 22, 2009 | 6:37 PM Bezman responds:

Why didn't you? You missed your chance.
