Pink Floyd - Money (cover)

"fact"

date: December 13, 2006

The guitar seems proficiently played, but I don't find this particularly enjoyable to listen to.

Mainly because it just made me wonder why I wasn't listening to the original.

Without the vocals, it felt a bit empty towards the end.

Whilst a cover that takes a song and puts a new spin on it (like Muse's or even PCD's 'Feeling Good' covers) the fact that you used the backtrack just didn't allow you to that, had you even wanted.

You are a great guitarist though.

Author's Response:

thanks :D.

i'll consider that the next time i try to do a cover

Yellow Mustard

"laughed, guffawed and chortled"

submission: Yellow Mustard

Terrible recording. Noise and whatnot.

Great joke though. I like the riff on what sounds like a bass guitar in the background. Gives it all an 'anxious' feel.

The end is pretty funny.

I saw it in Frenzy's flash and laughed, guffawed and chortled.

StringMix

"Great fusion"

submission: StringMix

I really like how you play with the 2 channels to keep it interesting.

I have 2 complaints.

First - though personal preference - I found that until I plugged in headphones, the violiny sounds were overpowering. I liked the end where they were removed and the slow stings could 'breathe'. I'd have liked it if you'd played around with the start/end, carrying that on a bit longer.

When I plugged in the headphones, the little plonky sounds that sorta sound like 'crystal rain' or something like that, made me smile.

There really is a lot going on here.

Second - I felt it could easily have been altered to loop perfectly. With maybe a few bars of lower volume at the start, it'd just have sounded like it had faded out, then in again.

I realise that maybe you intended it to be a piece to be listened to once, rather than looped maybe 10 times as I've just done, but not looping it better just seems a shame.

Great fusion though. Really enjoying listening to it!

Sarod Love

"Is it based on an existing tune?"

submission: Sarod Love
date: December 13, 2006

Is the light tune that starts up based on, or sourced from, something else? The one that starts off with G#,B and ends on E,C# (I think). I recognise it, definitely, but don't remember hearing the beats with it.

Gives it a somewhat modern Bollywood feel.

I enjoyed the way you used the 2 channels to get some interesting effects.

Didn't really enjoy hearing the descending melody combined - it didn't seem to harmonise well with the original melody.

Loops brilliantly though.

Great track and if I ever make a middle-eastern-style game, I'll definitely put this in.

The doo doo song

"doodoodoodoodooo doo"

submission: The doo doo song

I loved this in the end of Flax's world #9 and had to hear the full thing.

Love the intro and the way it builds up. Gets me swinging. But each time it stops, it's a little jarring.

I think I'd prefer it if you kept building it up, maybe introducing some wailing, a horn, some added double-time melody, then maybe went into overdrive at the end before it all exploded into the seed we have at the start.

Also love the way you use the stereo.

Spastic Demo

"Technically bad audio."

submission: Spastic Demo
date: April 21, 2006

I like some of the voices you do.

The audio quality is, technically, a bit bad though. Maybe you were too close to your mic or something. I don't know about these things. It just had 'pop'ing and stuff.

But I liked your voice and specially liked the intro voice. Maybe try to make take it even further in the various directions if you can, though.

I swear I'm not high--_--

"Made me grin like a madman"

date: April 14, 2006

I love the way the same melody transforms when the choir-type sounds are taken away and the instruments changed.

I think the ending stage is sound enough that that could be lengthened with a few slight variations and it'd be something enjoyable...

But as you suggest, maybe it'd be wrong to make it more than what it is... and the beginning would surely get annoying if you just wanted to listen to the dance part.

But I would like to see the melody explored a bit more. If you could take it through even more styles... that'd be an interesting challenge, maybe?

Also, the part at the end would make a quality loop for some sort of light-hearted puzzle game I think.
