At least there's an attempt at a plot...

However, maybe it could have been handled better than via 3 pictures (2 of which were flipping about in a really ugly manner).

The same could be said of nearly everything about the movie - you've got good intentions, but you don't really seem to pull it off.

All I can really suggest is that you keep practising and I'm sure you'll improve.

Boring...

From the start (which I actually thought had stopped it stayed still so long...) the whole movie was just a case of over-long scenes and nothing of real interest going on.

It looks as if it took you a fair while, but I urge you to think of something more interesting to show next time around. Maybe have some actual sort of plot and/or some joke(s)?

For a simple action movie like this, the animation and graphics need to be of a really high standard. And yours weren't quite that good.

Also, next time, I suggest you use the NG pre-loader and don't bother with static frames. That whole shot of him just standing there should have been put into a single frame, with the pre-loader in that same frame.

Good luck with future stuff,
Bez

Decent for a first go.

Next time, I suggest you use more pictures, as at times, it's too jerky to be able to properly see what's going on.

I'm sure that everything else will improve with practise.

Keep it up,
Bez

Mildly interesting at first, but goes on too long.

It was never great. But the fact that you used stars made it interesting for a wee while.

Then after the EU part, it started really dragging on. There's only so much you can do, and too much of what you showed was too similar.

Maybe if you made another movie and condensed all the best ideas you have into a shorter animation that'd result in a much more enjoyable watch?

Nicely done

I see you've gone for a similar style to the one I'm trying to achieve in a couple of my current projects.

You show that it doesn't need to be near-perfect to look amazing.

I like the way that at the end, the lines shake even more and I also like the way you don't make a meal of things like the guy getting up. (But it still looks respectable.)

I also liked the smaller writing at the end. I didn't like the 'E' of 'End' and didn't think much of any of the bigger letters (sorry), but the smaller writing was very nice to look at and also definitely readable.

Another small niggle is the way the robot stops wibbling before he gets eaten. Maybe this is because you used a movie clip in conjunction with masking? Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way, so you need to just copy and past a few frames to keep the wibbling up.

Also, it would have been nice to have a replay button at the end.

The plot isn't the greatest, but all in all, this was an enjoyable watch if only because of the joyful animation and excellent music choice.

You asked for a comment, so...

To be honest, I didn't think the animation was that great. It's probably better than anything I've done, but there were a few things I didn't like about it.

- I didn't like the walking that much. Maybe split up the legs into 3 parts each? (lower, upper and foot) Then you could animate a nicer looking walk.

- I wasn't too keen on the way he held the same pose throughout the movie. Even when the truck came - the moment when I'd expect most motion - he just stood there almost static.

I suppose you could argue that that's to show he's an alien, but instead it just leaves him a bit devoid of any character.

- I didn't like the way the truck hit him too much. I suppose I'm nit-picking here... but he's almost past it and then the truck comes and he stands still? I guess that's because he's so scared, after looking to see what it is but it just didn't work for me. (Another nit-picking comment - the traffic light was hard to make out which light was on.)

- I thought the design of the alien was OK. I do agree that it could be a bit furthered from humans though. But it's up to you really.

- Last negative comment (and the worst) - I just didn't find it that funny.

The basic joke seems really unoriginal to me and as there was no real surprise involved, it didn't tickle my funnybone.

Now for some compliments to counter the negativity.

- you have a nice clean style. You're obviously a talented artist.

- I liked the ending loop. Looped seamlessly and appropriate.

- I really liked the reaply button - specially the way the question mark pops in.

- I liked the blood splatters and the way some remained on the 'camera'.

I hope my comments were useful and I look forward to your next piece of work.

Sorry for the nit-picking.

Stay funky,
Bez

Well, thank you very much for your comments... i'm really thankful for the negative ones because this gives me a clear clue areas where i need to work on, but about the legs...this is just an assignment so i really didn't focus on it...to tell you this is just a style of my animation..stiff and simple but yea I'm currently learning how to do frame-by-frame animation, may be this will solve the stiff animation, but again thanks for your comments...

I'm totally in agreement with you.

So whilst your flash isn't that great, I'm giving you a 5 because of the good it did, as it seems you helped sort that guy out.

For future reference, when you do a web-link, it might be worth making it open in a new page. You do this by selecting '_blank' from the drop-down menu whilst in 'normal' mode.

You could have maybe chosen your words better, but it did some good and I totally agree with what you've said.

Good work. :)

Funnier than I expected

Newgrounds was playing up yesterday and the movie refused to load.

Instead, I read some of the reviews and after doing so thought that I'd probably not find the movie so funny now that I knew what was coming.

Lo and behold - it made me laugh! Whilst the drawings are decent, the animation is rather poor. However, the unrealism just adds to the humour, as do the 'boing' sounds.

Ultimately, this is something that you either find funny or not.

Myself, I laughed longer than the movie lasted.

The short length is a plus point in my opinion - a longer length would just dilute the joke unnecessarily and whilst your Jerry Springer thing may well be excellent, to lengthen this for the sake of length would be a mistake.

To be honest, I don't really think interactivity would be that great either. Click on a breast to punch? Hmm... could work I suppose, but I think it's funnier this way. It just comes straight at you with the hyper motion and that's it. To have to click frantically for the whole time would just be an annoyance I feel.

It's rather tricky for me to decide what to rate this.

I understand Wade (or whoever)'s point about length not being an issue, and as I said above, diluting the joke would be a mistake.

However, whilst this was funny for its length (I watched and laughed at it 4 times before it stopped being funny) it lacks other things that I might look for in a movie.

It doesn't have a crazy plot, interesting characters, provoke me to think, make me feel any empathy or evoke any stirring in my heart.

Still, it did make me laugh for longer than the length of the movie and that's a damn fine achievement...

Fuck it.

Have my 5th ever 10. (Well done. :))

Utter codswallop! ;)

Graphics are poor, basic joke isn't funny or well exectuted and whilst the music is good (and the 'blammed bits well timed to suit the music) that isn't enough to make this anywhere near worth watching.

I never got the hang of this game...

I've played a few versions of this game before, and I've never gotten the hang of it...

I didn't manage to beat your game, despite having 2 goes, and I was annoyed to find that I'd have to wait again for the game to load if I wanted to retry it as the restart button doesn't work.

I reloaded the game once for a 2nd try, but couldn't be bothered after that.

Non-working restart button = 4.
