Subtitles?

As the reviewer below says, subtitles would have really helped. You obviously know English, so why not use that knowledge and share the story with all of us?

As it is, the graphics weren't good enough to entertain me on their own. It looked like an interesting piece, from what I could gather, but (maybe because of the language) I didn't enjoy it that much at all.

And that's all I can really base my score on.

FranciscoSoft responds:

Sorry dud, but my pronunciation sucks, its better to u and me to use subrirles, bye.

Hmmm...

Well, the graphics weren't bad enough to make this a bad movie on their own. (They were bad, but not that bad.)

For me, the main problem was the general lack of any interesting story or action.

{WARNING TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT YET WATCHED THE MOVIE - DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER)

I suppose the bit where he catches the bullet is marginally interesting, and that gives you an extra point. The 'right' option though is just horribly confused - it's too hard to tell what's going on and when you work it out, you realise it wasn't worth the effort.

Sorry to be harsh, but you really need to think of something more interesting to base your animations around.

Did you make all those pictures?

Some of them are truly excellent - I specially like the pool and the flowery pictures - the first 2 you show.

I found this movie surprisingly interesting and I'm glad you didn't let it go on too long.

The music is what really makes the movie - it's suited perfectly to this type of thing as it's instantly listenable and doesn't require any specific imagery.

There's a lot of better stuff out there, but this was fun to watch.

Well done. :)

Much better than the previous one.

Some of the graphics are really brilliant - specially in the shots of the director. You're obviously a really talented artist.

The music is all really well chosen and the voices well acted. (Again, much better than the first movie.)

The humour is so much better this time around. The jokes come fast and furious - the general premise of the animation really allows you to throw the jokes our way with no gaps in between and you've really lived up to the potential of the idea.

That's really the thing that makes this such an improvement.

I watched it a 2nd time simply to ensure I caught all the jokes.

Good going!

Surprisingly funny.

Despite the production values being so poor, or perhaps because of that fact, this made me chuckle most heartily. It was just so stupid, and the ease with which they killed that bad guy was really rather funny.

I wouldn't want to watch this again (which made me give it a 6 rather than a 7), but it was an entertaining watch whilst it lasted.

A fair tutorial; terrible entertainment.

I suppose I didn't really expect this to be entertaining (or useful to me as I already know how to do this) from the title. (In case you wondered, I watched it because it had 199 votes.)

It looks as if it took you a while, and I like how you've made the effort of using screenshots and stuff.

However, 2 things I think you've gotten wrong.

1) Because of the code you've used, you don't need to name the instance at all. Doing so is just a waste of time as you don't refer to instance names anywhere in the code. 'this' will affect the movie clip with the code, regardless of its name.

2) Draw a square only in the up frame? But then it won't have a hit box and you won't be able to click it for it to detect a down state... also, (if it had a hit-box) it would disappear on roll-over or when you press it, as those frames would be blank... Or maybe I've missed something?

Another thing I'd maybe point out is that whilst it may be hard to find something at flashkit.com, what're the chances of someone finding this here? Still, at least it was useful to a few folk and you've done a good deed in that sense.

Good on ya,
Bez

Keep trying?

Well, I have to agree with the other reviewers - this does suck. Still, My 2nd submission (I spent 2 weeks on it) was pretty bad, so I can understand that it takes time to get good...

Maybe in using the halo name you were setting yourself up for a fall? After all, many consider it the greatest fps ever and you obviously haven't done it justice.

The graphics are poor, as is the animation. The last nail in the coffin is the fact that there's no story here or any interesting action.

It's hard to make interesting previews or trailers... The movie will obviously be better, but I suggest that in future you maybe think a bit more about the action/story and maybe you could make something enjoyable to watch?

Keep trying,
Bez

Jepette responds:

Yeah you're right and all the other too. I had hope that it is popular but not. My English is bad because I
am French. I would not make a film of then!

Good job

The animations are really simple, but the drawings and story are good enough for that to not be a problem.

I find it interesting the way the character imagines the clown as a psycho.

You've obviously put a lot of thought into this and it really pays off.

I don't normally like violent movies that much...

But then, I suppose this isn't a 'normal' violent movie. It's not a fight scene and the violence is actually put into some sort of context.

When the violence comes, it's not really expected so is all the funnier for that reason.

The 'morale' of the story provides yet another level of humour and all-in-all, I can't fault the 'script'/'plot'.

I rather liked the graphics and sound myself. The graphics weren't artistically stunning, but they work better with the plot I feel. I still cringed as he was stabbed with the knife and had he been more human, I may have felt more guilty laughing at his pain.

The shrieks too were great, as were the sound effects and the opening intro.

All in all, this is a sublime movie. Well done!

By the way, I couldn't find Don Hertzfeldt's Rejected on this site. If you could provide me with a link it'd be much appreciated.

Stay funky,
Bez

Mildly amusing...

Your graphics have definitely improved slightly and despite what others say, I liked the 'blah blah blah blah'ing.

I didn't like the actual plot that much, mainly because it took me a watch for me to get my head around the fact that the events were being repeated (something that was never explained) and by the 2nd watch, none of the jokes were funny.

Now that they've evolved a bit from sticks, they all look like black folk - surely it wouldn't take that much more effort to make a face, with an outline, a fill colour a little bit of hair and a nose? Then you'd have proper people and it's look marginally better.

It's a nice enough movie and others obviously liked it, but personally, I didn't like the 'script'/'plot' that much.
