Classic.

Your parody of video-game parodies and the ridiculous parody of anime wannabe animations are both brilliant.

The graphics were generally great, I loved the numbers with the skyscape detail, your anime rip-offs and the beefy flash icon.

2 tips just doesn't seem enough though, but I'm excited to see you followed it up...

Insightful and well-delivered humour.

Unique look

I saw this ages back on the forum and it still looks unique.

The simple shapes and the use of colours gives it a lovely, unique, look.

I liked the slight stretch/squash you had and the motions as the ball urges rectangle forward or invites him to ride.

I wasn't too keen on the 'dirty' yellow on like the 3rd screen and at the end, I kinda hoped your world would be completely dazzling and multicoloured. Still, it was a happy flash. I enjoyed watching.

Also, the typography is cool - great font choice, mirroring the simplistic shapes. What is that font?

Oggy-cheese responds:

i think the font is called Atmosphere. Get it from dafont . com, thanks, i remember you from the forums :D

Intriguing.

Like most trailers, this wasn't really entertaining in and of itself but the series seems promising.

The Times New Roman (?) fitted in well and I liked the 'twisted' word. Also, the ending with folk taking the pizza was awesome.

The first reveal of the characters had shock value, but I felt like they looked a bit hastily drawn - like maybe they could have had their lines refined or maybe some shading put in.

Well, in the end it's gonna be the script that makes or breaks this.

Sound-O-Vision responds:

Thanks for the feedback!

We've been refining the lines as per user reviews like yours.

The font was Trajan Pro, and the twisting 'Twisted' was my favorite part :)

Glad you liked the live action pizza. We're planning on using those as scene transitions.

Stay tuned ;)

Disappointing

I guess this was aiming at the same sort of humour that some spam flashes do?

Beyond the pre-loader, it's just a few lines of text and the pre-loader picked tweened to zoom in. I thought it was just the intro, but it's the whole movie?

I just found this disappointing.

Ans some texture in the bg might have been nice.

think the lack of a cohesive narrative makes me l

The animation's story was pretty odd and the animation was kinda patchy - with sparks of brilliance here and there.

I'm pretty ambivalent towards it.

The flute-laden song at the start sounds kinda like the kinda thing heard in the Brackenwood flicks.

The bg colours were atmospheric. I felt the tweened walk cycle of the first dude looked kinda odd - not really fluid enough. The simple animation of the toys though, made me chuckle.

When we zoom in on their fight, the first speech bubble seems cropped and the line at the bottom seems odd.

The fbf horse animations were brilliant and - for me - probably the highlight of the animation. Really amazing to behold.

I was hoping to see something that gave meaning to the young boy's horror (since he didn't want to see the battlefield...) like maybe you could have shown bloodied, macabre ghosts riding those horses, entrails hanging out, heads already cut off, limbs strewn on the floor...

Another wee nitpick - the way the horizon seems to have an angle in it makes it look really wierd. I think a straight horizon, some sky-looking colour and the adherence to the tradition of subtitles at the foot would have helped.

Some of your animation is great, but I think the lack of a cohesive narrative makes me like this less.

Fairly average toon

Predictable narrative/joke and a moral I've seen before.

I did like the washed out colours in the bg and the sfx were fairly effective.

Looking more carefully at a motorcycle, deleting the lines that pop over at the corners would help slightly, visually. Mostly, it's jut the predictability that lets it down.

Also, fix the replay function.

I docked 1 point for false advertising on the Flash forum.

Almost nothing of merit

Funky music. Again no credit. Loops badly though.

I liked some of the pics - but some are bad quality and the one thing you've actually done - paste them all in - doesn't seem like it's had a lot of time spent on it. You haven't aligned them or positioned them with a lot of thought.

I did like the winking circle. That made me chuckle for a moment.

Wegra responds:

Uh, that circle is a dot. But thanks for the review!

A waste of our time

The music is kinda funky and the new instruments work well.

Why no music credit?

For that matter, why no plot, variation, change in graphics, humour or anything else of redeeming value?

Given your 'update', it seems you yourself know this isn't that good. I didn't enjoy this either.

I did kinda like the dot's mouth though.

Chucklesome

I love the joke here - gets me chuckling every time - but there are a few presentational tweaks I'd suggest.

Firstly, the beveled title text and circle doesn't look too good. It's fine on its own, but it just doesn't fit with the flat style of the characters (the shadow on the title and play button seeming similarly incongruous to me when they're not repeated elsewhere on that screen). Maybe you could spend some more time on the opening screen - have some bg colour, maybe redo the logo to fit the flat-shaded style?

Definitely give the play button a proper hit box. Maybe even have it so you can click anywhere to play.

Your graphics have definitely improved - I really like the line-less style of the bench and the bg, end text, paper and bg also look good.

However, I feel you should consider changing your characters' style a bit. Maybe either make the outlines thicker or nonexistent. Just now, they appear glitchy.

Also, their shapes look vaguely flat on the bench and everything - having one level of shading on them might make a massive difference.

A replay button should probably just make the movie replay rather than returning us to the menu.

Voices were really expressive.

Anyways, it was a great thing to watch and your graphic abilities have definitely improved since I last saw something of yours. I hope they keep doing so!

Jimtopia responds:

If I ever find a moment I'll change the title screen, because it really doesn't look that great, and I could make a much better one now. I think I may start shading my characters for the shorts, because you're right, it would look better.

dumb

The title screen is awesome.

I think using some photos/pics works OK - specially the earth. if you want to appeal to more folk though, I'd suggest taking more time over the backgrounds. Maybe take out the black lines and put in more detail. And redraw the characters with more detail.

Gohan slamming into the ground was pretty funny

The sound was quality

Goku's dialogue was just dumb - his first line after seeing his brother just makes him sound like an idiot and the 2nd line makes no sense.

Try putting dialogue and text in boxes or at least choose your fonts and colours a bit more judiciously. Using verdana just seems wrong in such a violent flash. Maybe even use a bitmapped font?

There are good elements here, but overall I felt underwhelmed by the whole thing.

Formalz responds:

Hah. Thanks for your review. Yes things could alsways be better. ;)
