Lacks pace.

Technically, this is a great effort, specially for a first production.

The music is well-suited to the production and you've used a lot of tools really well.

The text looks great, and I like the video at the credits screen.

The gradients are nice too as were the repeating bgs.

The only real tecnical problem was that some of the movement (of the humans) was a bit dodgy.

However, to me, this just seemed to drag on a bit, failing to present enough new information at frequent enough intervals.

This is an undeniably great movie - I'd be really proud if it was me who'd made it.

However, if you had maybe had some more stuff going on, maybe a bit of decent characterisation etc. it would have been a great watch. As it was, it dragged on a bit at times - specially at the start and end.

Hopefully your level of writing will improve to match your technical ability.

I really look forward to your future work.

Well, I suppose robot bears is a bit original...

But this still managed to somehow have very little to offer and even became a bit dull towards the end.

Your graphics are good, but not good enough to convey exactly what's happening, or to bring more excitement to the action.

Shading would have been nice.

The bit where the blue bear was dodging punches, it wouldn't have been entirely obvious that that was what was going on if the blue bear hadn't grinned.

I liked the bit with the speedlines though.

But the way he got put down so dramaticly with such a feeble-looking punch seemed a bit of a cop-out.

And I didn't really find the duck thing funny.

Still, you've obviously got some real talent, so I hope you continue to make Flash movies, and improve your skills.

I didn't find this funny at all.

However, I did appreciate the pretty nice graphics and sound.

You did a good job of getting sprites and choosing the right ones for this movie.

I wasn't too keen on the 'finish' sign, but at least you made it look pixely and blend in better.

And the sound was well picked too. :)

The only problem was that I just didn't like the humour. The joke seemed a bit derivative and childish.

I look forward to seeing more from you though. :)

Really good start... promising.

I really like what you have so far, but will limit the score, purely because this could turn out to be rubbish as the series goes on.

(Sorry, but I'm a realist.)

The plot so far, though cliched, really grasped my attention and I'm eager to find out what happens and what the story behind the bag is.

My one criticism is that the heart (I presume that's what it's meant to be) doesn't really look like a heart.

Also, the graphics aren't the best, and the bit with the flashing colours behind the phone box looks a bit tacky.

However, the graphics in general are definitely good enough to do their job and the music is excellent, as were the voices.

I loved the main tune, as well as the way you used it throughout.

How good this truly is depends upon the rest of the story.

I'm really looking forward to the next episode! When will that be out, and how many episodes do you think this will take?

americawasted responds:

Dear Realist,

A lowered score is understandable. The rest of the story should be out within two weeks. I will submit the whole episode as one movie.

The music was created directly for this flash piece. I didn't do it, a friend did, so I agree with you the music is excellent.

Another Realist

I didn't like this at all.

It wasn't funny at all, being totally predictable and offering nothing new at all.

The file size is ridiculous. You should really read the NG thing about audio optimisation (when you submit stuff) and make the sound a lower quality. As it is, the movie must be about 100kb, with the sound taking up over 3000!

The graphics are slightly better than some of the joey cartoons I suppose. Maybe.

As I said in the last review, you should really keep your wacky humour as that was the best thing about Joey.

By the way, what happened to the earlier episodes?

I thought the sound was OK...

I mean, it's not of professional quality, but it seemed reasonably clear and I understood everything said, something which is often not the case.

Also, to be honest, it's not as if the rest of the movie's of a brilliant standard...

Sorry, but the graphics are average, and the derivative script barely made me smile.

Your graphics have definitely improved since your Joey series, and this isn't nearly as bad as the Star Wars Joey.

I just prefer your crazy humour. If you mixed that with decent graphics (and added a preloader and play button - use the NG one), it'd be a winner. :)

Top-quality graphics.

The colour scheme was great and everything looked beautiful, specially the start, where the buffalo king was created.

The music seemed brilliant - I'm a bit confused as to why it cut out though.

My only criticism would maybe be that the bitmaps and vectors don't blend together totally seamlessly.

Still, it remains an enjoyable watch with sweet eye-candy. :)

I'll definitely look at the final piece if I happen to see it on the portal.

really nice graphics and a fairly decent story

The way you integrated the 3D lamps into the 2d environment was excellent, but I felt that the motion really didn't look that great.

When the lamp bounced off the ball, it looked to me as if it was floating in the air for a second, before it turned over and hit the desk.

Also, it seemed to fall really slowly...

Also, the lighting did seem a bit poor - some of the shadows looked less than perfect and the lamps didn't seem to cast any light.

Still, this movie is beautiful - probably even more so that any of your other movies - and though the plot's not the best, it's nice to have one. ;)

And the music's great too!

I really look forward to seeing more from you.
