Not quite as good as #2.

The graphics and sound are also great in this episode, and I also love the music playing in the background.

It's just not as funny somehow...

Partially because of the lack of a co-host and partially because the joke has been stretched a little, I suppose.

Still, might as well see #3 now...

Funnier than I expected.

The voices were great, and made me chuckle a bit.

The co-host was also rather amusing - I think you repeated his lines just the right number of times.

The only thing I'd suggest is that you have a play button rather than have the movie start automatically.

Well, I'm off to watch the original.

Review for Invaders 2

I somehow messed up, so this is my review for Invaders 2, and the review I have under that submission is for the original 'life on Mars'.

Anyway, Invaders 2...

Again, nice graphics and decent sound effects.

However, there just isn't enough story to it.

Also, the way the fleet and shield were made, it wasn't too clear if that was a visualisation of what might happen, or if that was actually happening.

For such a giant shield and fleet to be built in an instant of screen-time seems a bit much. You should have maybe had a little info to describe the building of those things and make them seem more fleshed out and real?

This kind of seems to be a fault with episode 1 as well - not enough 'flavour info' and not enough descriptions of what's going on.

Hopefully my criticism will have been useful to you.

Good luck with future stuff,
Bez

Marginally better than the other one.

The pause, where the screen turns black for a few seconds, still seems a bit too long.

But whilst some parts did make the fact it had been speeded up a bit obvious (the landing and the turning) I preferred this one on the whole.

I did think that the camera remained on the individual crew going about various tasks a bit too long in the other version.

I still don't understand what the green/purple things you see are supposed to be though.

Disappointing.

The start looked promising. Whilst the simlated scratches on the tape weren't as convincing as they could have been (try making the lines thinner and shorter?) I did like the general presentation at the start, including your graphics and the music.

But just as it starts up, we're 'treated' to a horrible noise and some granny's head spinning around maiming her(!?).

If you had some sort of action after the intro or some joke continuing in the original style, this could have been decent. As it is, it just annoyed my ears.

I can't believe this survived...

The start, with goku crashing into the blocks, was mildly amusing.

However, the rest of the short-lived fight provided no more entertainment for me and the dancing sequence was the worst I've seen for a while.

The characters hardly looked as if they were dancing and weren't at all in time with the music.

Dancing sprites is old news. You really need to offer something more these days...

Nice but flawed.

It looks reasonably good, but the stick-men change size. I suggest you maybe paste a copy of the original picture somewhere whilst drawing as a guide to the size.

It doesn't look as if they're moving towards or away from the camera - it just looks sloppy.

Also, you should maybe change the button in the NG pre-loader to gotoAndPlay the first frame of the movie, rather than just play as it currently does. (Meaning that the tutorial flashes by.)

Another wee flaw is that the sound is on event - I strongly suggest you always set back-ground music to 'stream'.

My last suggestion is that for your next movie you try something a bit more original that just another stick-man fight.

But the graphics are pretty decent and this was more enjoyable to watch than most stuff submitted.

I also liked the presence of the 'tutorial' - it wasn't that great, but it was nice to have a proper pre-loader that tried to entertain us for a change.

Good luck,
Bez

Made me chuckle.

The graphics could have been better. (I found the sort of pixellated lines really annoying.)

There wasn't a play button at the start - something which there really should be at the start of any animation.

The joke was pretty dumb.

However, it was amusing enough to make me chuckle and for that I thank you.

I liked the voices too. :)

mr-wheatley responds:

ahh no play button.. hadn't really thought about that.. yes bit of an oversight.

A great start.

Most of the effects look really nice and I like the fact that the simple characters aren't normal stickmen.

I specially like the part when the guy raises his arms and a sort of star appears for a second, as well as your 'warp' effects, the various gradients and the bead of sweat.

However, the hatched lines you use look rather poor, and I feel they let down the movie somewhat.

Also, I suggest you add sound to your next movie.

Other than that, just keep working at it and try to think of a slight spin on the genre, or maybe some more interesting set-pieces.

Keep at it!
