A++ short loop. SPACE RPG.

This is as awesome as the Pico tune.

Great sounds. Crazy instruments that work brilliantly. I specially love the beeping at the end that turns into the rise at the start, along with all the creaking noises.

I love the way you have a build-up without having anything too drastic and no sudden drop. Great variation whilst staying in the bg as a bg loop should.

Not something I enjoy for longer than a few minutes, but would be perfect for a menu or an interior part of a space RPG game.

If I ever make a space RPG, which wouldn't be this year probably, I'd want to use this.

RyeGuyHead responds:

i guess it gets annoying, but in a good way

Pico? A+++ for 'exploring a catastrophe' music.

Great dramatic atmosphere.

In my mind, I see... a man. Standing outside his old school. A hand clutches his face. Memories flash into view like lightning. A fire extinguisher. A door. The entrance, now unlocked. The Janitor's closet and the horrible visions of the transsexuals.

Then the music changes and the man runs around naked, dancing with Tricky the Clown.

In all seriousness though, it's a great tune. Loops marvellously, the perfect subtlety of variations, and brilliant melodies.

I'm not entirely sure it's Pico-esque, but it should really be used in some post-apocalyptic RPG mebbe. Or maybe a game where you've just woken up on a trash heap in another planet.

RyeGuyHead responds:

Ok

In imagining a naked janitor dancing with a clown, are you happy now?

Jesus Christ, i need to go take a shower now

Everything is nigh-on perfect bar the looping.

Totally awesome tune!

One major gripe that completely ruins it imo - the disparity in volume between end/start sorta gets annoying when it loops.

Other than that, it's seriously awesome - the hard beats, the sirens, the amount variation whilst you keep that constant tempo and aggressive beat... it's just a shame about that slight issue of the start.

Have the beats at the start and make sure everything else matches up as well, then it'd be nigh on perfect.

EchozAurora responds:

well, that could be easily fixed for anyone that would like to use this in a flash.. I'm always open to requests on things like that, and I never mind customizing a loop or song for an author's purposes.
But yes, thanks for another good review!
This was actually the first battle loop I've ever tried to make, and even with the little flaws, I must say I'm rather proud of it. =]

I hate big changes in loops.

I actually enjoy both 'halves' of this tune.

But I really get irritated by the way that the tune switches. When a loop does that, it's sorta bringing real attention to something that, by simply being a loop, is kinda repetitive and should probably sit in the bg.

I love hearing all sorts of variations in start/stop tunes and love subtle variations in a loop. But major variations in a loop just seems like a terrible idea to me.

You've got good stuff going on in both halves, but it just doesn't work as a loop.

SolusLunes responds:

So... no loop, but full song.

I think I see a trend here.

Awesome for low-danger carnage scene bg loop.

I really like how you play around with stereo effects for the drum beats.

The whole thing was a bit slow for a 'battle loop' mebbe. But it'd be cool for a burning scene, or a scene where you're not actually in much (or any) danger but are on a scene of carnage.

Like when Pico's in the corridor in 'Pico's School' mebbe.

Maybe a tad more repetitive than it could be and the time the drums stop for a moment just makes the loop more obvious.

But it's a decent bg loop for a 'safe' carnage scene.

speedmetalmessiah responds:

Thanks for the review Bezman. I was thinking about doing a really fast submission for the battle loop, but figured I'd go with more of a groove type thing. Glad you could still see it put to use for a Pico flash. Thanks again for the review man, I appreciate it.

Not a great loop, but A+++ 'event intro'.

I like the way you have a good amount of variation with the drums in the 2nd 7s.

Not keen on the last 2s or the way it works as a loop.

As a short intro to something, though, like a boss spawning (Cassandra?) or whatever, it'd work brilliantly.

Other minor complaint - I feel you should've varied the volume of the drum beats a bit.

DarKsidE555 responds:

The drums are my major problem but I think with my new prog...thats history for good. Thanks for the review man!

Awesome sound, but gets boring after 5 minutes...

I don't really understand your comment - you mean the shitty loop is intentional and folk should e-mail you for a version with a better loop? That seems obtuse...

Why?

Anyway, I love the choir and the way it works with the heavy drums and the weird bg sounds.

It might have have been better with more variation in them though.

Great to listen to, and I love the way it works. But with it on repeat, it just gets a bit boring too quickly.

Winterwind-NS responds:

i meant that it duznt loop well cuz thers a split second at the end of the mp3 with reverb echos lol
so for ppl who wanna use this, just email me for a version with that cut out.

sorry for the confushun

Unique sound. Lacking in variation/melody mebbe.

Nice looping.

Cool use of the high hats.

The droning in the bg made me think of car-racing, but it could work for any action scene I suppose.

If I had to make a complaint, it'd maybe be the lack of melody other than the one formed by the long engine noises in the bg.

Cool listen, though could have more variation.

SineRider responds:

weeeeeee

Cool tune but not really 'Pico'. Poor looping.

I don't know what it is about this, maybe the slowing down at the end, maybe the 'dull' tone, maybe the slow start, maybe the slower melody that layers on top even after the burst of aggresion at 15s... anyway, something gives the tune a sorta 'laid back' vibe. Kinda like maybe it's about a guy stealthily picking off folk, or sneaking around. I think it's mainly just the start/end.

It's a great tune and it kinda sounds like you used some existing music (I might be wrong) which was actually cool.

I love the way you use the sfx and your high-quality production.

I feel this particular tune wasn't really 'outrightly' aggressive enough though and the start/end don't make for a good loop.

It could have been totally kick-ass with them cut, mebbe. Still, could work for a really really quick movie, mebbe.

AdmiralConquistador responds:

Yea, I know I understand pretty much everything you're saying, which is why I had created "Pico Battle LOOP", but it was too late, I opened my mouth and submitted this one first. Oh well, I pretty much made all the corrections that you listed in the loop version. Thanks for the comments man, appreciate it!

Original idea! Disappointed by ending though...

Amazing voices! I would have guessed at first that Kermit was real!

The drums and beats were all really tight and the guitar masterful.

I'd have liked it to carry on a bit longer - there wasn't much of a satisfying end - and maybe some more variations at the end.

Fun and novel, though!

Bad-Man-Incorporated responds:

Thanks man, just a fun thing. Who would have ever thunk it. haha.
Glad you liked it.
As for the ending...it doesn't really end on the show either...just fades out...repetively. haha. Thanks again, man\m/
