Obviously took a fair bit of work and thought.

I liked the graphics for the most part - specially the guy with the axe.

Sound effects were reasonably good.

However, it just wasn't funny at all for me.

A bit twisted...

I just didn't find it funny.

Also, I'm really not sure if I agree with the way you're poking fun at Banana.

Lastly, why have a full song at the end? Surely a waste of filesize?

You did work the Arnie clips in well though.

Any tips on how to make it 'funny' for you? Don't bother sticking up for Banana, everyone knows he's an asshole. BUT A 4, come on!

As the below author said...

It's a decent effort, but brings nothing new to the concept and has no real jokes of its own.

Still, it obviously took a while to make and if I hadn't seen a few 'Windows sims' before, I'd have gotten a laugh out of it.

Brilliant.

The pre-loader, whilst it looks great, really needs a loading bar. Maybe you could have the purple bar slowly increase it's height until it fills the screen? After loading, a play button rather than an automatic start would be nice.

Also, there's a bit of slowdown in the bit where the 2 children are walking along and you see a couple of slices of earth. Maybe you should make the slices of earth less complex?

Also, setting the music to 'stream' would ensure that it remained in synch no matter the quality, as the player would drop frames of animation if necessary.

However, that's where the criticisms (small ones at that) end.

The music was great - enjoyable to listen to and suited well to the other-worldly landscape.

Your graphics are very simple (specially those of the characters) but they look great and I love your colour schemes (specially the purple ;)) and the parallax scrolling you use. I also really like the pools of light and the bit where you see the ball go down the steps. I also really like the part where you see the city lights turn on and the design of the water machine.

The animation of the characters is rather simplistic, and the part where the blue creatures advance on the pale-blue child does look really unconvincing. However, it perhaps works better than a frame by frame animation would have as it keeps to the overall style.

The story was wonderful. Despite the lack of speech (textual or spoken) you gave the cast a bit of character. The shapes you used for the eyes to express emotions worked brilliantly.

Whilst simple at heart, it was the way you paced the introduction of each element that made it work so well. The appearance of 2 red eyes, cliched as it is, worked well as did the increasing number of blue things visible through the holes.

It was the ending that made this movie. Our perceptions of the 2 races was turned on its head by the (slightly chilling) conclusion and a few parallels can be drawn with real life. However, these are left to us to think about and ponder, rather than being overtly pointed out or getting in the way of the story.

Working well as an enjoyable story, a feast for the eyes and as a parable, I think this has earned a 10 - a score which I rarely give out.

Congratulations.

You deserve it.

It might not be that funny to non-NG users.

For me, it was enough to raise a smile.

I liked the pumpkin tricky was wearing - very clown-like eyes and nice colours. :)

I'd just like to suggest that you use stretch and bounce a bit when orange clock is bouncing to the door. If you squash the graphic on the frame when he touches the floor, and maybe the subsequent couple of frames, and if he stretches a tad as he reaches his highest point, that wee sequence might look a lot better.

But as an e-card it definitely works.

I also liked it.

I've seen animations involving the cursor before, but this was still really inventive. I really liked the whole story, specially the 'poking'.

Made me cringe. :)

The only real problem I have is with the sound loop - it got tiring by the time the movie finished and although I wanted to watch it again, the loop really grated.

Still, great work. :)

The arm looks brilliant!

That arm really does look great, although the blood did look painted on.

The only problem I have with this movie is the lack of action, plot or a joke. The great CG really isn't enough to make this a really enjoyable watch.

Did you make the arm in some 3d program yourself? It really is amazingly good.

For your next movie, I suggest you try having some sort of 'story'. Maybe you could have the alien in an office, eating various people, and then have it die when it eats a plant or something followed by the words 'be careful what you eat'?

It's not the best, but a stab at a story would surely be better than none at all?

Slightly amusing, I suppose.

I've seen a couple of other windows emulators, but in each one, a bit of the author's personality seems to come through and make the submission unique.

The bits about windows deleting files weren't all that funny for me - I find it more amusing when the crashes are a tad more realistic. Try getting the error messages off the net and modifying them a tad.

Also, you really should have used printscreen to capture everything as your rendition of kazaa specially was rather poor.

I thought the hotmail e-mail was slightly amusing though. Maybe someone should make a series of games about computers that belong to fucked up folk? That might have potential...

The song at the end was decent.

However, the movie itself was derivative, poorly concieved and virtually indistinguishable in terms of 'plot' from hundreds of other submissions.

The poor graphics and animation made it surprising for me that it even survived.

Still, they were passable, so if you concentrate on a decent story next time, I might actually like it - who knows?

To be honest, I'm kind of confused why you'd submit a full (rather long) tune preceeded by such a short, pointless movie.

I'm disappointed this is going to survive.

Whilst you obviously put (a tiny bit of) work into this, it gets progressively worse and descends into self-praising tripe within seconds.

Ah well... I suppose it's not going to affect me in the slightest.
