I've not seen whatever advert this is based on. If it follows it quite closely, I'd maybe enjoy it less.

I liked the basic notion and the script was well written.

You misspelt 'definitely' when the fairy said it.

The beginning could maybe have been tarted up a tad, with background graphics and some better-chosen font.

The commentator was specially great, but all the voice actors did a really good job!

Amused me throughout and the end gave me a wee chuckle.

You really need to enlarge the screen to show off the great spritework!

i didn't misspell definitely, you just clearly don't know the word i was using which just happens to have the same sound and definition as definitely.

increase the size of the next movie!

As the previous reviewer mentioned - definitely increase the screen size (maybe double each length, increasing sprite sizes accordingly) for future productions.

The whole adventure was well voiced.

This episode had little comedy apart from at the end, but I found myself interested in learning about Dark Link (shame we never did).

The battle seemed a bit anticlimactic. Link never seemed to be in danger of losing and his victory seemed too quick and easy.

The ending was kinda sweet and made me smile.

==
The fight could have been more exciting and the jokes a tiny bit funnier, but I found myself engaged by your representation of the characters.

Whatever you do, increase the size of the next movie!

(Also, put in a proper pre-loader with indication of how much has been loaded.)

Learning is over rated. forgetting is civilization.

after the drawbridge being raised was a bit weak

I felt the jokes and the script, generally, wasn't as strong here compared to #2.

I enjoyed the opening section with Link freaking out the guard, but the rest got a bit dull.

You spelt 'Wednesday' correctly this time! I forgot to mention that there were a few mistakes in the last one ('Wednesday', 'head over heels' and something else being misspelt) but there weren't any in this episode.

Sprite work seemed good, but I really think you should enlarge everything to let us appreciate it at a larger scale.

Everything was accomplished well, but I felt that the script after the drawbridge being raised was a bit weak.

Well watcha gunna do? (besides light me on fire. I am highly flammable.)

Made me chuckle a couple of times.

I think this series would be totally improved if you enlarged the screen, so that we could see the character details well, without having to squint at the screen.

The start was great - I liked the Link/guard exchange and the 'hasten your demise!' and ninjitsu bits made me chuckle.

The end bit, with the Link/sprite exchange kinda tired me. The flashback didn't seemed slightly irrelevant and the exchange as a whole wasn't as amusing as the rest.

This episode did make me think that maybe the story could be better told with original characters. I understand the greatness of not having to tell the backstory but practically nothing in here needed to be exclusive to the Zelda world and and with original characters, you wouldn't get people annoyed at folk behaving 'out of character'. Well, I suppose that's a large debate that I shouldn't get too deep into.

Works well enough and I suppose this way, you don't have to draw anything... heh.

Another thing I wondered - why did you submit this as 2 separate episodes on the same day, when the maximum allowed size is 10MB?

Great voices for everyone. Slight popping again from Link, though barely noticable.

I would have liked to see some credits for the voice actors etc.

Made me chuckle a couple of times. You should definitely enlarge the screen. It could have used some more editing.

The screen must be smaller. SMALLER. always smaller.

Made me smile for the most part.

There have been loads of videos on NG for this song. I thought this would be another and it'd end there. But regardless, you lose points for originality there...

I grinned at the scenes for 'fill up your hearts' and 'shoot your sword with power'. The scooby-doo style door scene was nice, but could've been taken a lot further, with a full cast chasing after him.

The early scenes, the children specially, seemed kinda derivative.

At the end, you have a tiny bit of 'popping' on the microphone. The script made me chuckle a tad.

Nice cliffhanger! But you mebbe should have put in a 'to be continued...' or something.

==
Would've been an above-par video for this song, then the ending was a bonus!

Made me smile for the most part. Not much to suggest other than extra dollops of ingenuity to elevate it further above the crowd.

Emptygoddess responds:

Ah but the secret you see, is hidden.

I got a bit bored watching it.

What's special about the 7th of November?

The cities are indeed rather nicely drawn. (Traced, I presume?) Colours are indeed well-chosen. Fireworks looked good, as did the rippling of the plain red flag.

After the first set of fireworks, it kind of went downhill in my opinion. Repeating all the images seemed a bit cheap and added little.

I felt that the shots were generally held too long with not a lot going on in the frame. It kinda got dull.

Apart from the fireworks, you never really timed anything to the beat - a few of the scene changes seemed badly timed and you made little use of the alternating 'moods' near the end. You could have been far more sensitive to the music, I felt.

==
Some well drawn graphics, but generally could have benefited from some more empathy for the changing tempo and moods of the music.

I got a bit bored watching it.

Also, I felt it didn't really speak for itself at all - I had no idea whether this was a parody or not whilst watching, though I read all your responses afterwards. Maybe putting in a date or an indication that it was set in the future might have helped us realise that.

I'm not going to discuss politics in this space.

Kenzu responds:

7th November is the day of the Great Socialist October Revolution and the day of the declaration of the Chinese Soviet Republic (Jiagxi Soviet)

You must have had a slow computer if it wasn't synchronised when watching it.

What a poor review. This movie isn't worth a rating of only 4.

(You probably didn't watch the movie to its end, otherwise you wouldn't have asked whether its a parody or not.)

I never empathised

I loved link's face - his sorta 'scared, worried look was great and made me chuckle as he walked away from the jail and - earlier - from the phone.

I really like all the silent protagonists - how they don't have mouths (apart from that one shot with Link).

The movie didn't really concentrate on them that much, though, which slightly disappointed me.

A lot of the movie kinda bored me. The Leroy Jenkins and Lightsaber Kid and all the police stuff... I felt slightly sorry for Gary after he was practically accused of Ash's crime...

For the most part though, I just didn't empathise with the characters at all. Gary just seemed completely shallow; a 1-dimensional chirpy character. The homages I mentioned were vaguely 'nice' to spot, but I felt that beyond the nod of recognition, there was nothing there. It was like you wedged them in there, rather than having them in the background or whatever.

==
Maybe other folk will love this and I feel like an arse for writing this after you've obviously worked fairly hard.

Essentialy though, it bored me for the most part.

Sorry.

Aeonstars responds:

Bezman... First off, I'd like to say thank you for liking the characters that are the silent protagonists. As for Gary, I see how you can see him as a 1 dimensional chirpy character and maybe in some respects he is. But if you look closely, You'll see that Gary's favorite hobby is to call up people at their homes and perform surveys over the phone. Why he does this is beyond me. He just likes to know things I guess. That's why in the bathroom scene he says to Ash: "Did you know that the razor is the most feared object in the household?". This means that Gary has actually called up people and asked them what their most feared object was. This is also the primary reason the police are chasing him. This is just a little insight into who Gary is. If you right click and pause very quickly at the beginning and zoom into his bookshelf you can also see his collection of survey books. I consider this a funny character trait and I also like to think this takes away a bit from your 1-dimensional view of him. I did, however, build him up to be a happy guy because it's that much more funnier when you see him scream and run for his life with the silent protagonists shaking their heads in the background. Gary essentially became the flash for me. When I started working on it, 8 months ago... I came up with a whole bunch of funny situations Gary and The silent protagonists could get involved in and I basically narrowed it down to the best ones. He's even become a sort of inside joke between me and my friends. They even made me a Gary shirt for my birthday a few months back lol. You didn't enjoy this flash and that's unfortunate but a lot of other people have so I guess that I have gotten an overall positive response. I'm not going to say this review doesn't hurt me because it does... You gave me 3... Over the last 8 months, I poured my entire heart and soul into this project and I completely surpassed my limits. Doing this for me was incredibly ambitious considering when I started, I didn't know what a movieclip was. I know that this deserves more than 3... That I deserve more than a 30% rating. Like I said before, It's too bad you didn't enjoy it... When I finish my new stuff I'll be sure to send you a PM because I want you to tell me what you think. Thank you..

too many rough edges

The bug with the 'facts' button is probably because you have the facts after the movie. Flash loads frames in order, so if you want pre-loader content, place that first. And you can use 'if(_root._framesloaded>5)' or whatever to check a particular frame.

Drawings could have been improved. I thought the shot with the border closing in on the dude's eyes didn't work too well. frankly, your drawings aren't good enough to pull off that kind of 'dramatic' shot.

The facial expressions during the ramble about Guinness made me smile. I think you should maybe exaggerate your expressions more.

The Guinness ramble and the drunk-malarkey both got a smile from me.

I felt the way you broke up the start with your 'the most amazing adventure yet' 'here it comes' 'okay, okay, this is it' 'TITLE' snippets of text seemed slightly irritating.

==
It was a decent story and some of it made me smile.

But I just kinda felt like there were too many rough edges for me to be able to really enjoy it. Also, some of it seemed kinda formulaic and dull.

Jonimator responds:

Thanks for the review. I do know how to fix the buttons, but right now it's pure lazyness. I will get to it. Anyway thanks for your input.

we never really saw the 'sketch' and the object wa

I like the concept of showing the evolution in drawing, but a shield is a bit of a boring thing. I mean, it'd be so much cooler if it was, say, a guy walking along who's getting finished whilst he's moving.

That's what I hoped it was.

The first few lines did look cool and suitably sketchy. I felt a lot of the circles and whatnot seemed a bit too rigid and precise though - not like a sketch at all.

When it started turning, that was kinda cool. I think my favourite part was the middle, when you were sorta showing a texture in the bg through the shield, as if it was being used as a window, or a mask in flash.

The whole thing is definitely a movie btw. The presence of a 'scene select' doesn't make it an interactive thing really.

It's a cool concept, but we never really saw the 'sketch' and the object was a bit bland.

There were some cool designs on the shield, but watching it grow, and watching the lines slowly drawn in... a bit 'meh'.
