Good for early 90's arcade-esque medieval game.

This piece sounds kinda medieval-ish to me.

Btw, I'm guessing that it's meant to loop round to the 12s mark on subsequent attempts? I kinda think that you'd be serving yourself better if you submitted the intro separately. Flash authors get stuff from the NGAP because we can't do fancy seamless loops, quality tunes and whatnot! If you submitted the loop part separate from the intro, it'd just make it easier for authors to use your stuff.

Anyway, it has a decent vibe. Kinda like the old arcade games with that electronic melody in the fore (although the drums are a step up...).

It could be awesome for a swordfighting game. Or maybe a game where you run and avoid medieval traps.

Did you really have gunplay in mind when creating this?

Love the groove, hate the repetition.

I really love it when the soft bg notes come in at around 22s.

The bg melody/beats are cool, but could have used a bit of variety.

Seriously, it's got a laidback groove and some elements that I love, but just seems like it needs a bit more work done to it.

Awesome sound, but gets boring after 5 minutes...

I don't really understand your comment - you mean the shitty loop is intentional and folk should e-mail you for a version with a better loop? That seems obtuse...

Why?

Anyway, I love the choir and the way it works with the heavy drums and the weird bg sounds.

It might have have been better with more variation in them though.

Great to listen to, and I love the way it works. But with it on repeat, it just gets a bit boring too quickly.

Winterwind-NS responds:

i meant that it duznt loop well cuz thers a split second at the end of the mp3 with reverb echos lol
so for ppl who wanna use this, just email me for a version with that cut out.

sorry for the confushun

Unique sound. Lacking in variation/melody mebbe.

Nice looping.

Cool use of the high hats.

The droning in the bg made me think of car-racing, but it could work for any action scene I suppose.

If I had to make a complaint, it'd maybe be the lack of melody other than the one formed by the long engine noises in the bg.

Cool listen, though could have more variation.

Awesome amount packed in here. Let down by loop.

Gotta love those beats.

Shitloads going on. Ultrahigh stuffGoingOn:length ratio, which is awesome.

The loop is imperfect (when played in Winamp) - I'm just not too keen on the way the beats all seem to drop for a fraction of a second for another big beat to drive it all again.

I could enjoy it for a few minutes - great for a single short level of a game maybe - but after that, it gets annoying, mainly because of the way it loops.

Cool tune but not really 'Pico'. Poor looping.

I don't know what it is about this, maybe the slowing down at the end, maybe the 'dull' tone, maybe the slow start, maybe the slower melody that layers on top even after the burst of aggresion at 15s... anyway, something gives the tune a sorta 'laid back' vibe. Kinda like maybe it's about a guy stealthily picking off folk, or sneaking around. I think it's mainly just the start/end.

It's a great tune and it kinda sounds like you used some existing music (I might be wrong) which was actually cool.

I love the way you use the sfx and your high-quality production.

I feel this particular tune wasn't really 'outrightly' aggressive enough though and the start/end don't make for a good loop.

It could have been totally kick-ass with them cut, mebbe. Still, could work for a really really quick movie, mebbe.

Yea, I know I understand pretty much everything you're saying, which is why I had created "Pico Battle LOOP", but it was too late, I opened my mouth and submitted this one first. Oh well, I pretty much made all the corrections that you listed in the loop version. Thanks for the comments man, appreciate it!

slightly repetitive. Great sound/feel sup-par loop

It has a great aggressive feel.

My main gripe is with the looping. The way you did it seems like a bit of a cop-out manner.

Although the leading melody is a bit repetitive, there's a few nice variations and some cool sounds in the bg.

Maybe start it with another layer in the bg - it's a bit too much like a really short piece (with layers added then an end) rather than a great loop.

Fun to listen to.

Some cool elements, but overall could be better

Loved all the sounds at the start - the rain, the guitar, the beats...

I hated the melody that came in around 0:57 though - it sounded too much like a synth. If you could maybe put in a decent-sounding flute, that could work really well.

Around the mid-point, the tune takes a wierd twist. Interesting, though I don't think I'd enjoy it all a 2nd time. The static/fast rain sound wasn't to my liking. Loved the piano melody that came in.

Around the 4:24 mark, I notice a lack of variation...

Some cool elements, though the piece as a whole could have been a bit more enjoyable and relaxing maybe...

Love beats/sample. But lacking in other areas...

Love the voice sample ('prepare for launch in 3,2,1...'). Where did you get it? Who is it?

The beats you open with are cool - really sounding like a sped-up heart.

Not too keen on the clicking.

The stuff that comes in after the sample kinda reminds me of cheap sci-fi laser effects. Around 0:43, you bring in a basic melody. but everything else drowns it out slightly. Also, I'm not entirely keen on the instrument you use for that part.

I love the basic beats and sample, but felt disappointed you didn't take it further, with some cool melodies layered on top.

Original vibe. Brings nothing in particular 2 mnd

The sounds at the start make me think of a ship's whistle and the sea. Intentional?

I found it kinda odd how it's a theme you don't seem to ever return to. Specially when the beats kick in.

It really does have an odd vibe. Slightly different from anything that comes to mind... not quite hiphop, not quite dance... I wouldn't call it ambient for sure.

It doesn't really evoke any particular image in my mind and I guess that's perhaps a criticism I could level at it - though doing so would be churlish.

I like the way you do tweak the melody (liking the whistling-type alternative) and beats as you go. Decent variation.

The melody that starts at 0:25ish is a bit simplistic. The beats at 0:45ish are what contributes the the 'hip-hop' vibe imo. The long notes at 1:09ish remind me of a cave - just exploring a bit of mystery.

I love the way the sound turns at 2:30ish. Maybe the ship's being attacked by demons? Demonic flying fish? Demonic seagulls or squid? Perhaps the ship's being dragged under?

I do feel you could maybe have a few more layers going on, specially at a few points where it seems a tad sparse, and some more further developments with the melody might be cool.

Good to listen to though and original vibe.
