Prefer fly's vibe. This one's more oppressive.

Just reviewing this straight after the remix, having had listened to both occasionally over the past fortnight.

The main difference I can discern is in the background beats - the melody, which I loved but felt needed variation - sounds identical.

The long notes at the start sound almost 'oppressive' to me as does the low pad.

Around 0:45, the beats get marginally irritating - they feel a tad too loud.

I definitely far prefer the vibe of the 2nd though there's a lot to like here also.

Great vibe. Melody needs more variation.

Love the ambience of it it.

Straight off the bat, you've got a great melody. I love the way you keep it going, but layer on more and more stuff.

The long, drawn-out notes are excellent.

After a while, I did get tired of the initial melody being kept the same throughout - I'd have liked some variation in the notes, maybe some development within that melody...

The rising scale-esque melody you drop in at around 3:12 did put a smile on my face.

I loved the vibe and always enjoyed listening to this in winamp. But just now, I'm feeling the melody should've been played about with a bit more.

On another note, I was just thinking that a shorter loop of this tune would be awesome for a relaxing game about flying, where you can't really die.

interesting, but shifts about 2 much for flash use

The noises around the 20s mark make me think of escaping steam in a factory and the sorta high-pitched background noise that fades in definitely adds to this.

I liked the sound of the bells and the whole thing could work well for someone exploring the sort of beautiful ruins that you find in Ico. But with more machinery.

The way you do sorta have a beat going on all the time but fade from one to another reminds me of the Donkey Kong Country underwater theme.

Specially the small bit that comes in at 3:06ish, which I enjoyed when it came in.

However, I felt that the mood shifted around a lot more - maybe too much to be actually used in a flash. Sorta sliding between open and oppressive, it seems like it'd need really careful consideration to use in a movie well. Specially with the church bells.

And for a game, the long length and pause at the end would be problems.

It's great to listen to and I think I'll keep the mp3 on my hard drive.

Lovely melodies but repeats and feels bare...

I don't like the timbre of the bass beats - kinda too 'shaky' for my liking as if the bass is being played too loud for a speaker... which may be the case. I dunno. That definitely turned me off. It felt slightly overpowering in any case.

I enjoyed the laid back tone of the background melody and when the new melody is laid on top, it's pretty sweet. The new piano-keyboard melody could be a bit more legato.

Also, I found that the tune got really repetitive and seemed to just repeat itself after a minute and a half. Maybe a few more variations are in order?

Also, I'd have liked to hear a few grace notes here and there maybe.

Really nicely laid backing melody though.

Original idea! Disappointed by ending though...

Amazing voices! I would have guessed at first that Kermit was real!

The drums and beats were all really tight and the guitar masterful.

I'd have liked it to carry on a bit longer - there wasn't much of a satisfying end - and maybe some more variations at the end.

Fun and novel, though!

Bad-Man-Incorporated responds:

Thanks man, just a fun thing. Who would have ever thunk it. haha.
Glad you liked it.
As for the ending...it doesn't really end on the show either...just fades out...repetively. haha. Thanks again, man\m/

Great idea, but could be improved further...

Crazy idea for a techno remix! Just crazy enough to work...

I liked the way it started. I like the minor key part that comes in around the 1 min mark.

But within those 2 halves, it just kinda seems like there's not an awful lot of progression. I did like the electronic pulsing note that fades in and introduces the 2nd part.

But really, I just would've liked to hear a few more prominent variations. Maybe some more layers.

Also, the beats kinda sound overpowering to me.

Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed it. Just pointing out the flaws.

THANK YOU!
This was made before I learned how to use FL Studio's mixer feature. I might do a Fix in the next few days. Thanks for listening/reviewing.

Obviously awesome melody but I wanted more remixin

When I first heard this come on in NGAPRadio, I thought, "YAY! ... Why don't more people do remixes of this awesome tune? This is the first one I've heard."

I like the ghostly intro and the basic melody is played accurately. There were a few minor twists that made it interesting.

But still, it's more like a MIDI keyboard recreation of the tune than a real remix.

From my perspective, it's played really well but really offers nothing new - I'd rather hear the original.

It'd be great to hear this being played on a keyboard in town and share it with the audience that I'm sure would have gathered. But on here, I was hoping to hear it developed and messed around with a lot more.

Hating4AM responds:

Yeah in the afterthought, I kinda just wasted Newgrounds space. This was more of a tribute to The Angry Videogame Nerd when he did his Ghostbusters three part review.
Check him out, he's hillarious http://www.gametrailers.com/screwattack.php

Thanks for the review, peace! :D

Great vocal harmonising but needs more layers

I loved the vocals that help introduce this.

Around the 50s mark, I was hoping for a new instrument.

I liked that you did have a build-up, kinda fading in that synthy melody. But it seemed really sparse.

To me it sounds like a great start, but you should add in way more elements whilst doing the build-up for added interest.

The vocals are by far my favourite element here. Keep working on it!

How did you do the vocals?

TheUrbanNinjaGirl responds:

to vocals are accually me singing. all i did was record and loop them. and, i relize i need more elements in the song. this was only a test of the update on GarageBand 3.

Great vocals&all. More variety&hardness pls.

I loved this tune when I first heard it.

The start is kinda minimal, but has a great sounding instrument and a good beat.

The vocals do add so much, simply in adding focus and basically carry the song.

I like the new beat that comes in at 1:03 and also the way it's now a 'vibe' rather than a 'beat'.

At 1:25-1:40ish, you have a great buildup, but then it doesn't quite get to the climax I would hope for.

I think 1:40-2:05 should basically have more going on and be more vicious, harder.

Also, the 2:30-2:40 part should perhaps be cut in my opinion and the last 10s sort extended marginally.

It's a great tune and having had it in a folder for the past fortnight, I've heard it countless times. It's a great song, though it's charm has worn off. I'm not expecting it to really maintain incredible freshness. I just feel you could add a bit more variations, maybe even some more instruments, particularly in the 2nd half.

Q: Who's shoutsinging the vocals?

Ideal for a town in an RPG. Safe, accoustic vibe.

I should definitely use this for something. Maybe a menu, a short section or a single level... something with little or no risk of death/failure.

I can definitely hear a sort 'RPG generic small town' vibe to the melody. Vaguely similar to Snes RPGs, it reminds me of a dozen and none.

I like how you used real instruments, but kept an old-school simple melody. I love the soft drums and also the way you share the melody between guitar/piano. the soft violin only became noticeable after a while. That sorta ties it together well as do the bursts of guitar during the piano playing.

What's the instrument you start with? Was the guitar real and the other instruments fake? (That's my guess...)

You've definitely added onto the melody enough to make it interesting to listen to for a while.

It's on repeat just now and I find myself getting tired after... I dunno... 7 minutes. Yeah. It's lost most of its charm now.

I think the piano should maybe be a touch softer and played slightly more legato. Also, maybe just as you have bursts of guitar during the piano part, maybe you could throw in a few piano chords...

Loops well.

So final thought - too short for a full game (as I'd expect for a loop of this length) but great for an upbeat acoustic-style menu, a single level of a puzzle game, an upbeat platform level with little (or no) risk of death or maybe even a town in an RPG. Heh.

Great stuff.

I made a full one check it out when you get a chance =D
