Could have been better, but it's still good.
Starting with olde elnglish lettering and fading to the sound of a single chilling note, Gavin Coughlan's new movie certainly doesn't give the impression of being a comedy.
However, the chilling sound soon gives way to a cheery doorbell, tuneful whistling and a small piece of humour.
However, the film soon reverts to its original state, and starts to display classic thriller cliches. It took me a while to realise, but I belive this ro be a case of dark humour being formed by a spoof of the genre.
I did actually laugh at one point, but perhaps one thing got in the way most of all.
The fact that this movie diplays a few things I would consider to be faults means that the thing it is ridiculing suddnly seems just a little better.
The horrible flashing text. The poor scripting at points. Yes, yes. This could be said to be further spoofing on the part of the author, but I don't believe that it is.
I think that had the author gone a bit further, included more irellevent pieces, a few little touches in the background for people to notice during a 2nd viewing, then this could have been a classic rather than 'just' a decent film.
Hey, it's a decent film.
I'm an over-judgemental bastard, who also happens to be pedantic most of the time.
Make of that what you will.
Oh, and the whole thing reminded me of the adult comic 'Viz' a wee bit. And I reckon that you should have had play and replay buttons at the start and end.
How about doind a remake of this some time in the future?
If you do, e-mail me. I'll want to see it.
