to spend more

++++ Some great backgrounds.

!!!!!- starts automatically. Never do this.

----- For most of it, it's impossible to tell what's going on. Are they crawling? Is that person being dragged? Dancing?

--- Overly slow. Specially scene with green thing slowly advancing towards the robot and the end scene, where the same loop is repeated over and over.

Draw more frames. Do more drawings - don't just skew, rotate and resize. Try and approximate reality enough for things to be understandable.

+++ Dramatic music.

==
Mainly a confusing mess. I think you need to spend more time on your work. You can do better.

IZSBHR responds:

Actually, it IS an automatic preloader, because all my preloaders look ugly :(

---They're beating the shit out of one another.

--green thing = ZIM.

-It WAS fbf, but I accidently replaced one of the MCs fbf with tweening :(

==
Thanks, I can do better. I think animation wise, this is very good.

it all started

++++ Love the colours in first scene.

++++ Some great vector drawings (specially for backgrounds 1 (purple) and 3 (firey).

--- Tweening the height or skewing look kinda cheap.

-- black outlines in bg kinda confuse the eye.

--- It all seemed like it could be better timed to the music. Hint - set bgm to stream!

--- Overly limited animation - just one mc and a few spot effects!

+++ You did use the basic animation to make some interesting patterns.

==
Enjoyed, specially the starting background and look. Got vaguely tired of it towards the end though and it all started to look kinda messy.

heather-lanham responds:

wow! thank you for your time and input! I'm glad you liked it, and I admit I got a bit tired in the end...I am working on v2. and it will have nicer animations in the background, along with smoother dragons with wings and legs. I'll probably keep the backgrounds, but take the black out like you suggested. thank you agian for a helpful review! --heather

groove a bit more

+++ Great colours at the start. The 'flames' and bg go well.

++ Love the bitmap textures - both the organic veiny rooty things and also the circular pattern.

++++ Great tune.

--- Some brush strokes, in the spiral or for other effects, look kinda cheap.

- When we go into the hydra's mouth and all the instances of the silhouettes suddenly appear, together with blue gradient-filled curved shapes, it lacks structure. It seems like you just wanted to wow us with the quantity and didn't put much thought into how you were placing them exactly.

-- Movement is too rigid... too much like it was done on flash - the deformation etc. looking too obvious. Maybe use tweening? Maybe use more joints? Maybe some fbf?

+++ Varying colours of silhouetted shapes is an eye-catching technique.

==
Enjoyed it while it lasted. Had it gone on for longer I would have been able to get into the groove a bit more and enjoyed it further, I'm sure.

At least this way, it stayed interesting. Watched 5 times!

heather-lanham responds:

wow! thank you for a detailed review! v2 will be slow, since I'll change out the song, and most of the graphics, but it will include the same idea,if not more structured. it will include more mythical creatures also, like hypogriffs, basilisks, the kraken, and all sorts of things. --heather

from the noise

+++ Good message.

--- Not very resonating. I doubt anyone will feel shocked or 'moved' by this. I doubt this will bring any change in anyone's behaviour.

--- Sound is horribly irritating.

- Blood is a tad flat and overly straight looking.

-- you give numbers, but is that for the UK? Specify!

+ Though it's better than looking messy...

++ Black and white noise seems to have some curves, kind like magnetic fields one might see on a TV. Did you engineer that somehow, or did Photoshop just make it like that after you pressed the button.

==
Good message but apart from the noise, that just irritates, it's all dull.

More imaginative effects with the text may have helped?

The-FlashMaster responds:

(in order of points)
-thanks
-turn the volume to full and put it full screen on an interactive smartboard, in a dark room (what it was made for).
- the sound is the only version I could find on the internet at such short notice.
- the blood (for some reason) slowed the whole thing down when i tried to add depth to it (thus no 3d or realism)
-UK
-thanks.
-actually i used paint (photoshop hates corel and won't install on my pc for some obscure reason)the effect is seen in any two pictures like this that are moved from one point to another (over the other picture) and repeated.
The bitmaps really slowed it down and made it a nightmare to export so a lot of time was spent compressing and reducing.
-this flash definitely wasn't my best, but is quite good on short notice and was a test of my 'white noise' skills, nothing more. To be honest i wasn't especting the rating to be higher than 2...so i'm pleased!

BTW the white noise was on 6 layers, all of which had the same picture.

read the spee

++ Some nice colours.

++ Hmm... 'docks' are real? Amusing.

--- Speech very hard to understand. Didn't understand any before the flashback.
???? Why no subtitles?

--- Scream at end was annoying.

- Credits at end kept jumping up every so often (moving irregularly)

++ Kinda nice tune. Sounds kinda Nightmare Before Christmas-y

==
Though I watched it twice to see if I'd understand any more, it mainly just baffled and confused.

And kinda annoyed.

I think if I could understand/read the speech rather than having to work it out, I may have chuckled.

IZSBHR responds:

Click on the bottom of the screen to read the subtitles, K?

And yes, it's from the Nightmare Before Christmas.

ugh, but will

+++ Cute 'story'.

+++ Good use of limited colour to attract attention.

-- Yes, it may be short and small in size. But it still doesn't load instantly. Really, always have a play button.

- Terrible hitbox for 'replay' button. The 'hit' frame represents what area the mouse can activate the button from. Normally, a rectangle works well.

--- Feels a little 'empty'. Like I seemed to be searching for some message or joke that maybe wasn't there. I watched it 3 times, hoping to find some further meaning. Maybe that we should remember our silly/funky friends and turn off our PCs once in a while? That friends are great?
I could see it, but somehow, I didn't really 'feel' it. Sorry for not being able to pinpoint why.

++++ Brilliant synching to sounds. Are all those sounds from one piece of music? Works brilliantly.

++ Charming little characters.

==
Enjoyed watching this a few times. Didn't really laugh, but will remember it for sure!

Sk8erGirl14 responds:

I created some sounds for this movie, and borrowed the rest and music...Audio is 1 track and SFX another...

...simplicity was my desired goal here, to fit with the music, more advanced characters just didn't look right...

thanks for the review...

see it degenerate

++ Kinda like the way it's all introduced. Slightly amusing.

- Though it made me think maybe that was of import - I had to reread part of it, so hadn't finished reading when MC came along. I then restarted.

--- short-loop or insufficient interest.

-- Song lasts too long in my opinion.

--- Colours hurt my eyes slightly.

==
I was kinda hoping the series would be a story of some sort. Sad to see it degenerate into this.

Not my 'thing' at all.

Btw, am I right in assuming that the animated skeleton was found by you on the internet?

FattyWhale responds:

yeah, that is a revenant from Doom 2. I admit I should have stuck to the storyline, maybe in the next episode I will do so.

as to how

++ Liked bleached colours at start and attempt at making it look different.

++ Texture of road.

-- texture should maybe move.

--- Just didn't find any of that funny.

+ Although MC saying he was happy with the result made me smile.

+ MC being traced rather than you using the bitmap.

==
I'm very mildly curious as to how this'll continue. Didn't really enjoy this though.

FattyWhale responds:

the next two episodes have nothing to do with anything, but I promise episode 5 will.
