slightly. Made me

+++ Again, you seem to capture all aspects of the country that us unknowledgable foreigners know about.

+ Generally good cutting/masking/whatevering.

- The instrument (don't know the name) seems to cast a shadow making it look far more like a cut-out on blue-screen.

Made me chuckle slightly. Made me skim a few facts.

"India is referred to as the largest democracy in the world, by virtue of the fact that it has the largest electing population among democratic countries."

"Population:
1,095,351,995 (July 2006 est.)"

"total population: 1.06 male(s)/female (2006 est.)"

(so much for the myth of females being aborted or abandoned...)

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

I thought the aborted or abandoned females was China?

The image of Hitler

I'm thinking that a big problem with some of these flashes is our own ignorance. When the bg is unknown, when the relevance of the items held rings no bells in our head... a laugh can't be as easy to raise.

Skimming through Wikipedia, I read that the country is the largest grower of tea, budhism plays a large part in Sri Lankan lives and that they build the world's first dedicated hospital. Apparantly, it had many lovely forests, but has suffered much deforestation.

++ bg is pleasant

-- AH seems to obstruct main point.

++ Like the shadow you added on the bat - nice detail.

+ Nice colour of teacup.

==
I wonder if you learn a bit about the countries yourself whilst doing this?

I learnt a few facts, didn't chuckle much... I'll certainly remember about the tea in future. The image of Hitler holding that cup sticks in one's mind!

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

Didn't I add shadowing in all of these?

Yeah, I learnt a lot about the countries whilst making these. That was the only fun I really got out of it to be honest. Of course now I've forgotten most of the stuff, but there's some bits that are still in the memory.

With the items he was holding in this one he could have been in England to be honest. I should have gone with something more exclusive to Sri Lanka. :(

A

++++ The bg alone made me chuckle greatly.

-- The rest didn't really.

-- Horribly jagged lines on the sign. Why?

-/2 I don't like the way the rugby ball's colour 'meshes' with the pole-majigie.

+ As usual, object photoshopped in fairly well.

==
A great chuckle.

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

Probably because the picture was so large and resizing images can yield pretty crappy results where diagonals are concerned. I did use Photoshop to resize it, but eh.

I miss your usual guessing about the items and background. :'(

offered a few seconds

+++ I think you captured all the elements of Australia. Can't think of anything else you could've put in.

+ I'm slightly amused how he seems to be holding the bat with 2 fingers.

+ Bg/composition works fairly well.

--- Limited nature of series.

===
I chuckled a tiny bit. It's no Japan/Alaska but offered a few seconds of amusement.

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

He could hold a cricket bat with just his little toe if he wanted to.

da sa

"AfroUnderscoreStud's response:
Hitler didn't kill millions. Get your facts straight."

Eh?

Anyway...

+++ I love being reminded of excellent holidays. I went to Singapore for a day, as you may be aware.
The police woke me up at 7, then started reading my comics. Also, there's a great shop near the location of this photo, which sells a great variety of sticky rice. Also, I had my favourite meal ever in Singapore. I've got a photo of the shopfront and some I took on the way there so if you ever were to go, I could explain to you where to go for a brilliant meal. (Best ever special chow mein.)

+ Nice composition on shot.

- Maybe could've used some colour editing, maybe making it slightly less blue and generally brighter.

++ Crazy-looking hat. Do you know anything about that or the pancakes? I never saw either, though I was only there for 2 nights.

==
Would be lacking for me if it wasn't for the connection. Some items piqued my curiousity, but the fact that I wouldn't know where to start finding out the facts kinda saddens me.

It is an awesome tune though.

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

He didn't commit those murders with his own hands. ;)

I'd love to go, but I can't afford to. Travelling to the other side of the world is expensive. D:

The pancakes I'm guessing is a popular food dish. I did a little research and found a number of Singaporean pancake dishes, so I'm guessing it was one of those. As for the hat I couldn't find anything on it, but I'm guessing it's some sort of traditional costume. Not really surprising that you never saw one, because when do we ever see people wearing traditional costumes in their respective countries? ;)

small

+++ The silly manner in which he's holding the items.

-/2 I don't like the way the firework is going off behind him. I think a pic with just a plain night sky would've worked marginally better.

++++ I really enjoyed the comments. Glad to hear his friends are so understanding. It's a good thing he hadn't betted on himself though, as I doubt the bookmakers would have been quite so accommodating.

==
a small chuckle.

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

Should I really get plus points for the author's comments? ;)

so it'd be

Yay! Congrats on being unbanned!

Btw, you may be interested to know that because of you, I'm currently watching Michael Palin's AtWI80D. An excellent series.

+++ I really love all the fonts in the opening. Despite their diversity, they work really well together. And it's all stylish.

+++ I've grown to love the main tune.

-- I don't understand the significance of the attire and goo. That makes me slightly upset.

-- Self-imposed ratio of old to new material.

++ chuckled at edit. Specially liked scarf.

==
I honestly enjoy this series - watching one or two normally gives me a chuckle.

I really think you should give more info though, about the location and what stuff is. I know you said some folk don't want that, but you could kinda put in dashes so it'd be under the cut.

Is the attire meant to make him look like a member of the Khmer Rouge?

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

Palin's got nothing on Hitler!

Sorry, I can't answer your questions about the content of the flash. It's been too long. D:

kept me

+++ Great voice-acting. Distinguishable, full of character and just enjoyable to listen to.

--- Whenever we see stever from the side, he gets a massive square jaw and a black (instead of grey) suit. Somewhat distracting.

- Also, when the dart is thrown, the guard's head is drawn really badly when it snaps back.

-- Lack of lip synch was slightly distracting. Looking forward to seeing that sorted for #3.

++ Great 60's graphic-style intro/outro. Though maybe lose the thin black lines on the rectangles?

+++ The start explains the bg and sets the scene well.

+++ The knowing, self-referential MGS joke.

==
Cheers for sharing. Not many laugh-out-loud moments for me, but kept me entertained.

Neo-Egyptian responds:

It's funny, all the graphical problems you've mentioned here are exactly the same ones I noticed when making the cartoon. Not to worry - I'll see what I can do in the third episode.

Glad you liked it!

impossible to do

++++ That fight scene - awesome. Fluid movement, dramatic camera sweeps...

-- I don't understand why partd go all washed-out, as if there's a translucent white sheet over it. A few moments before, the blacks are properly dark and the colours are fairly saturated. But when animations start, that suddenly changes. Why?

- The smile of the dude as he stands over her is a tad too flickering, I feel.

++ Nicely timed to music

+++ Lovely beginning. Nice use of blurring and the teasing glimpse of that sketch adds so much.

+++ Poses enough questions and gives enough clues to give no direct answers but get us all thinking. Exactly as a trailer should.

==
Awesome.

I watched part 1 previously and left with slight disdain. When faced with that awesome fight scene though, it's practically impossible to do so.

Alamus responds:

Yeah, I was going for a type of moonhaze...it just doesn't look as good when its the quicktime file in flash.

one or two

++++ Still loving the voicing and character.

-- No actual mouth shapes. Slightly out of time synching.

- I think he should've maybe struggled with some of those words in q1 for added comedy.

--there was no real payoff for the Macaulay Culkin story.

- I still feel the generic-looking starburst startup screen doesn't serve you well.

==
I do enjoy the idea and remember finding one or two previous episodes funnier. (Specially the chicken/egg one.)

Here, I just enjoyed hearing his voice again, but little else.

NeptuneCircle responds:

Thanks for the review. Al is a work in progress really. We're trying to iron out the bad parts and build up the parts people like.
