from start to the end

Watched it, hoping for something worth saving. I wasn't disappointed! (Though was too late to help save it... heh.)

++ The start was cool.

though it'd maybe have been funkier if the line kinda appeared in different places or something (maybe making some 50%alpha duplicates or something) after each line instead of staying in the same place?

-- The graphics are rough with only ocassional animation,

++++ but you really capture some of the energy of the song.

Though you refer to kanji in the movie, I saw none. Only katakana spelling out 'furiko' (or 'freak', I suppose). Kanji is an entirely different

==
I enjoyed watching it from start to the end of the credits, though there wasn't enough going on for me to want to watch it again at a later date.

Still, I've always kinda liked the song and you partnered it with some suitable visuals.

JunkFoodKing responds:

thanks. I have NO idea what the difference is between kanji and katakana. I just took the FLCL japanese logo (from the credits of the anime) and drew it the best I could.

most of the duration

+++ Basic premise made me chuckle.

-- You didn't really explore the potential of the premise.

- Zidane Tribal's bmp was really badly cut.

+++ Topical (or at least - it was).

==
I smiled for most of the duration and chuckled slightly.

I kinda regret not making a quick Flash about the situation. I was gonna do a thing saying 'what might have been said to Zidane?'.

Unfortunately, they revealed it the next day (insulting his mum, who's in hospital) so the joke would've been spoiled. I was too slow.

Murray responds:

I would've been too slow if I decided to put more effort to this flash.

Thanks for reviewing Bezman.

heart as I

My hope was that he'd have had a sex change, becoming a ladyboy for this episode.

2nd guess was he'd be a buddhist monk.

++ pink+black dress - heh.

-- Could've used more make-up.

+++ Encourages me to check some facts.

++ Responses have interesting info and mildly amusing retorts. 31 is a turkish euphanism for wanking? WTF?

btw, I couldn't find 'watarun' in wikipedia. One of the buddhist temples?

==
A slight chuckle. Closer to heart as I actually went there, as I'm sure you read.

Btw, my birthday is on August 13th. Could I be in a special episode with hitler? And some other crazy stuff?

Also - shame about #48. I assume you sent an e-mail to Wade straight away?

Hope it gets put back soon.

A unified Thai kingdom was established in the mid-14th century. Known as Siam until 1939, Thailand is the only Southeast Asian country never to have been taken over by a European power. A bloodless revolution in 1932 led to a constitutional monarchy.

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

I'm going to assume that either 31 or 3, 1 in Turkish sounds similar to the word they use for masturbation.

Wat Arun's wiki is here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wat_Arun

Was it in Thailand that they thought you were a terrorist or was that another country?

Shame I've only got round to responding now as had I read it earlier I would have made an SE for you. :( Obviously this isn't something I'm able to do any more due to me being prohibited from submitting any more of these flashes.

I think I sent him a message over AIM. It was a long time ago and I can't really remember. :P

Sorry for taking so long to respond Bez! I fell behind and due to there being a large number of reviews to respond to I saw it as a long task that I didn't fancy taking on. Of course that just left them to build up and up and now that I have got round to it it's an even bigger job!

Also, no need to worry. I'm not on my deathbed (a reference to a post you made on the BBS regarding me saying I respond to all reviews eventually and my lack of responding, although you may have entirely forgotten this post by now). ;)

do a modicum

-- It's partially my own ignorance, but I don't like not knowing what the items are. Is it bread in his right hand? What's the significance of the statue?

++ It is a pretty statue.

++++ You encouraged me to look up some facts.

==
Didn't particularly amuse me, but the inspiration to do a modicum of research was appreciated. I never realised the birth of Taiwan was enshrouded in such hostility and so many bad vibes.

Disputes - international:
involved in complex dispute with China, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, and possibly Brunei over the Spratly Islands; the 2002 "Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea" has eased tensions but falls short of a legally binding "code of conduct" desired by several of the disputants; Paracel Islands are occupied by China, but claimed by Taiwan and Vietnam; in 2003, China and Taiwan became more vocal in rejecting both Japan's claims to the uninhabited islands of the Senkaku-shoto (Diaoyu Tai) and Japan's unilaterally declared exclusive economic zone in the East China Sea where all parties engage in hydrocarbon prospecting
Illicit drugs:
Definition Field Listing
regional transit point for heroin and methamphetamine; major problem with domestic consumption of methamphetamine and heroin; renewal of domestic methamphetamine production is a problem

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

You can always check older responses to the flashes. A lot people asked and I told them what they were. However, now I've completely forgotten and am far too lazy to check. :(

rushing to finish

+++ Great bg. Inspiring view.

-- The hat looks like you were being lazy. I mean, no wood texture? (I assume you brushed it in quickly)

-- The 'tache looks more Spanish. Maybe a stringy beard would've worked well?

==
Looks like you were rushing to finish this one, but it made me smile still. Can't deny the awesomeness of the wall.

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

I think I used an actual Chinese hat thingamajig. :P

sparklers up your

-- Is it a clam in his right hand? I can't tell.

+++ Dark,atmospheric bg fits with outside view of North Korea.

==
Didn't get much from this.

I'm hoping you've got a few more sparklers up your sleeves, because I can't help but worry that the best of the series is now behind us.

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

I've totally forgotten what he's holding. I'm far too lazy to check. It's miracle enough that I'm bothering to respond to the reviews. ;)

Saudi Arabia was one of the best if I recall correctly.

it

A drop in quality after Japan.

Still made me smile...

Catchy tune, nice structure, appropriate showing of technology...

I do have no idea what the structure is in the bg. It would be awesome if you took the opportunity to teach us these things.

-- The mobile is a bit indistinct because it lines up so well with the bg. If it was at an angle, that might work better...

===
I kinda liked it.

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

Yeah, I wish now I'd mentioned in the comments what things were. It wasn't until CAI493+D though that I started adding things to the commentary upon request.

picked up

I'm seriously impressed. For the first time in the series (probably because you entirely covered up hitler), the entire screen actually looks like it was done by someone who put in some real effort, rather than it being a quickie slap-together for a joke.

The hairline is a bit blurry and if you were bothered, could've sort that but it's still so awesome graphically.

The sheer amount of graphical info blew me away and left me with a wide grin on my face.

I was actually hoping for something outrageous (Half-expecting a hitler in a Godzilla suit) and was more than happy with what I saw.

Seriously, it looks like you've picked up some real photoshop skills.

Another 8.

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

I had to blur the hairline to get it to look alright. I wasn't exactly sure what else to do.

I was wanting to steer clear from things like Godzilla, and stick with real-life stuff. An aspect of this series is to show other cultures after all.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review =)

Apologies for the late response.

Another slight

++++ Tranvestism made me chuckle.

++++ As did the juxtaposition of Hitler's serious face and the frivolity of his attire.

You know, where the song goes 'a girl from Sweden', it kinda sounds like someone is just entering the house and shouting out. A few times when I first watched this series, I was confused by that. (My speaker setup is perpendicular to my PC rather than parallel.)

--- inherently limited nature of series.

==
Another slight chuckle.

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

I listened to the songafter you mentioned that. I assume you mean right after it says the line, where it sounds like there's this little voice saying something?

I've never noticed that before. It's rather odd :/

Thanks for taking the time to write a review =)

Apologies for the late response.

such things are so possible

+++++ A landmark in NG history, purely by virtue of the size of the endeavour.

+++ Some varied work

-- Some sub-par efforts

+++ But open-submission policy helped in a way reflect the open nature of NG.

--- I think you should've had some more guidelines for how long each part should be (min/max times). I remember seeing it after it'd already been filled and after reading everything, I was under the impression that it'd be kinda quick, with each part being under 2s. Obviously some others thought the same and their parts seem kinda overly quick when everybody else's is like 4s long.

- If you'd put in all the authors names yourself or had a system for that, it might've looked better.

-- The site linked to in the menu seems to be non-existent.

==
Really, this is a landmark movie. A great endeavour and it's awesome to see that such things are so possible.

Any blemishes only help to make this what it is - a great representation of NG.

That review brought a tear to my eye!
