Enjoyed the vibe.

I really liked the vibe of this. The music was polished and both rhythm and melody were solid. A nice sorta midnight spanish bar vibe.

There wasn't any particularly great animation, but at the same time nothing let it down. You all knew what you were capable of and played it safe.

I found the 'plot' of the movie a bit confusing. Though I'd been told the plot when the collab first started, watching it was an odd experience. It took 3 watches to be able to read up to the 'responses(0) bit' and the last line of the movie, 'spoken' by you was unintelligible to me. It was a surprise, as I'm sure you intended it to be.

It's great to see the more active members coming together to make this. I'd have liked to be part of it and wish I hadn't had PC problems over the past 6 months but oh well.

I actually really liked how the style was fairly constant - apart from the author's names, no stylistic changes really screamed that a different author was taking charge.

I'm not sure if the movie would encourage me to review/request if I didn't already. I mean the movie itself is a little obscure and doesn't even explicitly explain the club. Thankfully you've added the spoken part that clearly says what it's all about and just getting the word out (even if it's only 420 views) is a good job. More clubs should have movies made.

Imacow responds:

Glad you enjoyed it.

The-Review-Cometh did a good job on the audio, it fit better than I thought it would.

Realy? I never thought anyone would take the time to read all that =3

The last line was "Seriously, at the RRC we review that fast". Yeah, most of the people never made parts so there was originally a plot.

Uhhuh, when I was assembling the collab all I could think of was that everyone would have no idea what it was about. Luckily Abs55 had done that intro thing so I used it.

Thanks for the review, Bez.

Heh.

A bit of a stretch to say the least...

Cool sfx.

Throughout it all, though, I was just trying to work out what was going on! After 3 watches, I think I finally understand...

Yeah, I really love the format of this.

I imagine that once you come up with an idea for these, it's quick to do, eh? I'd love for this series to be a long-standing thing if it retained this standard with the scripts.

I enjoyed this on several levels - for the music recommendation, for the joke with Celes and the whoaaaaaaaaaa joke, thirdly for the insight into your head and finally for a peek into the world of these characters.

Not much bad to say about this other than the font choice for 'Edgar and Locke', the low quality of the wintersun logo and the end screen. This is me 1/2 searching for crit. and 1/2 just being a design geek.

On the subject of Wintersun, I've listened to Beyond the Dark Sun and Beautiful Death so far. There's some wonderful energy in there and some beautiful guitarwork.

Do you know if any of their songs are instrumental? I'd love to hear what that sounds like...

Anyway, great work here. Really looking forward to future episodes.

Well, once I get to work on the flash, yeah, it's pretty quick to do. That doesn't apply to the episodes I've written up (got about 10 not made in flash yet), though.

The low quality of the logo was something I couldn't do much about since it was the only good logo image I found and got fucked up when it got resized. :(

"Do you know if any of their songs are instrumental? I'd love to hear what that sounds like..."

Unfortunately, they only have one album released so far and none of the 8 tracks on it are instrumental. :( However, maybe there'll be an instrumental on their upcoming album 'Time'.

Thanks for the long review Bezman. :)

I like the format.

I like the format of these episodes. It's vaguely like an animated comic strip in a way. Maybe I'm reminded of them because of the stereotypical 'talking heads' layout but I like the way it's a sorta repetitive format with changes. Discussion, punchline. Like a comic strip. Know what I mean?

I never realised those things are what's known as NuMetal. Fair enough

The visualisation of the joke at the end was cool. I'd have liked it if you'd put it some red pixels at the end.

Made me smile.

Although there isn't any blood shown on FFVI, but yeah, I could've added a bit of blood at the end, even though it would suck. :( Meh, it's something I can work on.

I personally didn't notice a massive similarity

I personally didn't notice a massive similarity between the two. I originally thought BFMV's song would copy the riff wholesale, but it's just the single note repeated in the same rhythm.

Anyway I actually liked the graphics and the voices were amusing.

I seriously think you need to work on your end-screen and those 'replay' and 'next' buttons. The replay button is boring and bland!

Murray responds:

Hmm, new next and reply buttons. Yeah, I could do with making better looking buttons. :)

A cool end to the chapter.

I actually rather liked the logo - just felt you should've gotten rid of the white bits around earth and maybe changed 'mars is next' to black and given 'universe domination' a black outline to make them more readable.

Also, I'd personally use a thicker font with sharper angles, like 'Impact'.

I liked the time-travelling aspect and loved the '...sad' line. Also, I found it amusing how you're so laid back about meeting your future self.

The effects on the 'thoughts' speech were cool.

One thing I'd urge you to do is make the subtitles click on-off-able. Your voices are good enough to no longer need subtitles and keeping some AS movie to movie to make subtitle togglable would be simple enough.

Looking forward to seeing what comes of this series!

Murray responds:

Yeah, I've been thinking about making the subtitles click on-off-able for sometime, but what I need to do is get some tips on how to get the AS for turning it on and off.

Great colours in the sky. Cool watch.

I liked the sky colours and the hell bg looks cool too.

I think the colour of the grass could be a lot better though. Also, I still think you should have more shading and animation.

I think the explanation of Phoenix Downs was unneeded.

I loved Fagamut chasing Wade in the bg, the amnesia effect, the news reel with all the side-stories. All that really helped with the density of humour.

I wasn't too keen on the voice of 'nobody'. You could have gone a bit deeper, maybe deepened it in Audacity, then added an echo for a more 'god-like' effect. I assume that's kinda what you wanted?

All other voices are cool and Lucifer didn't have any static, which sometimes exists.

Overall, a cool submission that kept me entertained, had me chuckle a couple of times and felt like a worthwhile watch.

Btw, thanks for the AVGN link. Those are probably the best video-game-humour videos I've ever seen. You know, I think it'd be cool to make a lot of the names in the last scene clickable, from A-S to BlueHippo to Anderson to Findsounds.

Murray responds:

"I assume that's kinda what you wanted?"

Haha, yes it was what I wanted. :D

"You know, I think it'd be cool to make a lot of the names in the last scene clickable, from A-S to BlueHippo to Anderson to Findsounds."

Haha, you've been giving me quite a lot of ideas on how to improve these little parts of my flashes. :)

wuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

A fair bit of setup...

Not exactly a rollercoaster of laughs, but it has your trademark sedate pace, screwball plot and excellent voices.

Man, your character's evil! That insight into your thoughts was amusing and mildly creepy (though a bit more emotion in the acting could have helped it be even better).

You should've had a link to the AVGN's flashes - I did a few searches for possible names but couldn't find him.

I like most the facts.

Though it wasn't as funny as some of your efforts, I'm looking forward to finding out what happens next.

Murray responds:

Yeah, there should've been a link to AVGN's movies. Here's his site:

I liked all the bg characters, even if they didn't do anything particularly amusing.

The last frame was nicely made and the bg fits well with your character.

I would have mentioned your previous claim had you not done so yourself.

I still feel the graphics in your flash submissions could be so much better if you spent a tad more time - even picking nicer colours, maybe experimenting with a soft gradient for the hill or sky maybe a bit of 2 or 3-tone shading...

I would have liked to see some threads wrapped up (like wade terminating your account, the earth blowing up...) but it was a cool tribute regardless.

Murray responds:

Haha, this wasn't supposed to actually continue from Bahamut: ATWI80D 03, but yes, it's a cool tribute for ATWI80D Day. Thanks for the review Bezman. :)

a fun watch

I like how you visualised the characters from the song. Also, having the lyrics was useful as I hadn't ever made them out before.

The end with the clockcrew .fla was cool too.

I like how in this version, it's almost as if we're the one on the recieving end of the joke - we've taken the place of the callee in the original flash.

Not got the greatness of the original, but still a fun watch.

Wow, a helpful review? Where the hell did this pop from?
Thanks, this is a really helpful review. :)
