It is awesome

"Any 'flaws' you may find in the video were done intentionally and add to the effect of the video."

I've never heard such a pompous statement, but am gonna assume its partially tongue-in-cheek.

I love the synching of events to the pacing of the music. The speding of the running, bag bit, flying bit etc. etc. were all timed brilliantly.

Also, the actual event and happenings were imaginative, continually surprising and wonderful to behold. I love the incidental details when the full rainbow is first revealed.

Loved the colouring at the start - brilliant shading on the leprechaun dude.

My only real criticisms would be the few graphical imperfections - I'd have liked to see some more shading throughout rather than their faces being a solid colour for most of the animation. At one spot the rainbow flickers for a few frames. And when the darker-skinned bespectacled dude passed the other guy, his head flashing in/out of the frame does look odd and slightly glitchy. Like maybe having a frame with his head on a lower opacity instead of nothing would have lowered how it seems to flicker.

Anyway, it is awesome and I love the message delivered by the ending, when he pauses a few metres from the finish.

PecanOutcast responds:

Those flashes and flickers and other glitches were the flaws I was talking about. When I uploaded it, it turned out like that and I was like wtf is this?? but really didn't want to go back and fix it all. So I stated that they were intentional. Haha, of course they weren't, I was just kiddin. I'm not that pompous. Really.

Dull for the most part.

I wasn't too amused - maybe because I never saw the trailer you mention.

I liked the brevity of it all and the brevity of the DDR bit was cool and made a nice contrast to the voices later on. I did chuckle there.

The simplified design for the animals was cool, though I wasn't too keen on Jebby as a character.

Anyway, For whatever reason I found it dull for the most part. Sorry I can't articulate why I feel that way.

Battosai810 responds:

well, not for everyone i suppose. I have my own little world I keep my characters in, and if you don't like it, that's your opinion.
If you see the trailer it's making fun of, I think you'd find it a bit more entertaining - search for "I Am Legend Trailer 2" and try giving it another chance.
thanks for the review.

Both stylish and funny.

I liked the fact that any message about drugs was leaning towards being subtle. I didn't realise it was to do with that until reading your comments afterwards.

Watching it as a straight joke I enjoyed it. The mood was evocative with the spanish (I think) voices, wierd characters and odd TV sounds.

I enjoyed both the jokes - both the 'mistake' for a moment with a disc and also the revelation of what the revered video disc actually contains.

The reveal of the peanut brain did suggest your disdain of TV rubbish nicely.

All in all, a cool piece - both stylish and funny.

Atzu responds:

I'm glad you enjoyed it.
All the animation style was part of a metaphor that contains everything I mentioned in the comment; for example, the peanut brain means a lot of things, it not only symbolises the damage caused by the mediums and drugs but the consecuently stupidness of all who can't quit their adiction (any kind of adiction like coffee or videogames), including me, just because of the "pretty colors" (the ones on the screen and the ones you hallucinate) which are "able to paint our very minds".

So, I must confess I do not only disdain TV rubish, but sometimes I just hate all kind of screens and wonder why the hell then I'm still here and actually planning to continue till death... I'll tell you why, I just love TV cartoons, videogames and stuff.
It's just normal, sane and bizarre love-hate. :p

Thank you for taking the time to review.

Really cool.

Had me chuckling away.

I'm gonna guess that this took around 2 hours?

Tyrone's 2-frame lip-synchs actually worked pretty well, as did the zoom/pans on the 'kick-ass' bit to suggest more motion than there really was.

The drawings throughout have a beautiful energy. I like the cute drawings and the layouts of all the scenes.

My one issue with this is the buttons - the 'DBZ finish' button was a tad hard to successfully press and the later buttons before you forgive, which sorta brought it back to a previous frame if you clicked, were disconcerting.

Overall, a thoroughly chucklesome watch that is, as is your trademark, kick-ass.

Skaijo responds:

Brilliant review as always, buddy.

This animation came off mostly as a product of me practicing AS over the holiday break. It took about ten minutes to voice and an hour to animate at most. There wasn't much effort but I was so pleased with the finished product that I had to share it around.

The DBZ button deliberately needs at least 2 hits before it kicks over to the refusal as part of the joke. The other buttons such as Forgive, "..." and the others used to stop the entire animation, but at the last minute I thought it was just too much clicking necessary for an animation this short. I didn't remove the coding tho, which was certainly could have done.

Don't blame the bad lip-synching on Tyrone--as that's usually my fault. xD

Just not as good.

Liked the 'lemon' part.

It obviously wasn't as strong as the original. The 'tattoo' joke was weak and we frankly don't care bout what your favourite FPS games are. At least Allen's fave NG subs had some relevance to NG and therefore some resonance with the audience.

I think the lesson here is to bring in some individuality but keep it fast (don't linger on one element like you did the dick jokes) and keep it relevant (mentioning the homework was fair enough - but more about NG pls).

The actual animation/video editing was reasonably done though.

Ultimately, it's cool to see an alternative take on an idea but there's no argument about which is better.

Smiley-Bob responds:

Yeah we realized that after we watched it. We were like "Our thing doesn't have much to do with NG you know...lol".
It wasn't very good. I'm glad SOME people liked it.

never really understood

Very cool style. Always great to see more experimental stuff on the portal.

I loved the final scene with the wide shot of the city. The ghostbusters bit and the 2 sections where you interacted (1st and the first drink) also stood out.

I wasn't too keen on the moose bits - never really understood what was going on there... was Hans trying to make him wear trousers?

Fun watch and great work.

BritishMoose responds:

Indeed he was! And he most certainly failed ^o^

disappointing

Some unfinished movies may be worth watching. Hypothetically.

But watching this, we're presented with an interesting, mispelt quote, a scene with pretty colours and then... pop. No payoff, no humour, little that accumulates to be of interest and only a second of prettiness.

I vaguely anticipated a screamer or something when it went white.

For a moment there, I thought this was gonna be a lovely little movie like the other, but no dice.

ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

I realize you're an illiterate retard, but when you watch a flash you might want to read an author's comments.
That way when you leave your huffy pretentious reviews, people wont see just how stupid you actually are.

extra ridiculousness

Checked this one out, hoping for extra ridiculousness and was suitably gratified. :)

Maybe the 3 heads could have been positioned to overlap less?

I think a slightly better song pick might have been '3 is a magic number'.

Otherwise awesome.

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

I was actually wanting to use that song, but unfortunately I don't have it. :(

I like the triplet...

I like Hitler's mutation here. Bg works well too.

I still feel it'd have worked better with higher contrast Hitler and also photographed magnets (and more of them. More, more more magnets - more ridiculousness!).

The screws were unfortunately barely visible.

Made me chuckle.

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

Silver on grey is pretty sucky. :(

amazing perseverance

Chuckled at how similar the pokemon are.

Hitler's skull looks more like a cloth! I assume it's just stretched...

Cool song.

I still think the pics could be improved... I wonder idly if there's any CAl episodes that match the overblown work of Japan or the beauty of Alaska. Would you let me know if you recommend any?

I think the bone would have looked better had it been an actual photo.

Anyway, keep it up regardless. I shall never take your amazing perseverance for granted.

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

Yeah, the skull was stretched. I couldn't manage to find a suitable enough skull that didn't require stretching.

All of these suck, so I wouldn't recommend a single one. ;)

The bone was an actual photo of a bone. :P
