Entertaining for a while.

If you do decide to make it so you can fire in any direction, then you'll have to re-think the gameplay a bit.

As it is, it's enjoyable enough but I don't like the way the enemy moves.

To be able to keep going you need to be accurate and not waste your bullets. With the combination of the time limit and the random movement, that can sometimes be impossible...

I think this could be a great game when it's finished. You need to maybe just put a little more thought into the time limits and the movement of the enemy.

I don't really understand why you made this...

As with most of your games, I doubt I'd be able to recreate this for a while yet.

However, it simply isn't fun.

As a game, Battleships isn't an amazing amount of fun and whilst there may be some fun to be had when playing with a fellow human, there's really not enough skill or strategy that can be employed to make it an enjoyable 1-player game.

I don't know if having a computer opponent would have made it much better.

Nice

I was going to say 'looks like you've got some imagination after all' but from Dogma's review it sounds as if you cribbed this idea as well.

Still, it plays well.

However, it's not without it's faults.

One BIG problem is that as you place the cards by pressing and activate the buttons on the end of game screen by releasing, it's very possible to skip past the screen by accident after having clicked to place a card where the 'play again' button is. I did this by accident before working this out and it really put me off the game as I thought I did brilliantly, but didn't get to see my final score.

Also, it would be better if you had a running total of your score as you played, maybe also a little number appearing by the types of ways you can gain points saying how many of them you have.

So for royal flush it'd say '100x0' until you got one, when it'd change to '100x1'.

And you could have that in the end of game screen.

But it's a nice game.

Maybe it should have been called 'poker puzzle' or something like that? As before I played it I thought it would be a poker game...

Well, it's not as bad as folk make out.

But really, whilst you seem to be (a) decent programmer(s), you really don't seem to have imagination at all.

Yet another unoriginal idea, this one mildly diverting and at least here the different artwork makes a real difference to the 'game'. Still, this one's not really interesting for longer than the time it takes to look at your style and see a few different pictures. (about 20-30secs)

I notice you've left NG. I take it that's because of all your poor feedback? I've been disheartened by feedback too, but maybe rather than despair, you could simply view it as a challenge to gain the acclaim of the audience?

Well programmed, like all your games

Whilst it's really well made (better than anything I could do just now), I didn't really enjoy it at all.

I've played a game with the same rules as this one a few times before, and I've never gotten the hang of it to be honest.

Maybe you could have made some levels designed to teaching us the way the game works? There could be an option to skip earlier levels, or maybe different courses like in Super Monkey Ball.

If the levels were well designed and helped me get to grips with the game rules, I'd have enjoyed it a lot more. As it is, it's just irritating for me.

A reasonable diversion.

The interactive bits are really rubbish.

The DDR section should tell you whether you were successful or not with each note and also how close you are to 'dying'.

The punching bit is just a case of holding down s. The rpg-style fighting bit should at least tell you how much damage each thing does and the whole play mechanice whereby you can just click and attack repeatedly whilst orange clock goes through the animations is really messed up.

However, the story was somewhat entertaining and it was a mildly enjoyable way to spend some of the last few minutes of my day.

You've obviously spent a lot of time on this and it has resulted in something worthwhile.

However, there's some areas that I hope you improve upon in future work. :)

Stay funky,
Bez

Tired

You're obviously extremely accomplished (technically) at making Flash games, but you don't seem to have any ideas of your own...

If these are learning projects of yours, then fair enough. Good show and they seem to work well.

However, as games they lack the all-important spark that makes it all enjoyable to play.

This is another game that has already been done many times (far better in a few cases) and whilst this does work, this is almost as soul-less as you can get.

Sorry for being so negative. I presume these games must have taken you many hours to make.

However, you need to put a little more thought into them to make them enjoyable to play.

As the previous reviewer said...

the unoriginality is a definite minus point.

It's nicely presented I suppose but maybe you could have added something to the idea?

Maybe you should have made it so that you have to tap out the buttons to a rhythm or something...

And a high score table is kind of pointless as you could just write down the sequence...

The Angry Kid version of this game was far more enjoyable simply because the noises were funny and stuff happened in the background. This, I feel, is nothing more than an unimaginative, slightly boring copy.

More interesting than before

It's not that hard... it's just about right now on 'HARD'.

Level 2 didn't seem to end despite me getting over 2600 points.

The dark gray ships at the start are too hard to make out and so too easy to crash into.

Apart from that, it's a good game.

But it still needs more work. introduce more enemies with different attack patterns! More levels!

AlternateAccount responds:

Well, actually, if you played Xtended, there are 5 levels, but someone blew a whistle? I'm not sure why?

Hmmm...

It's arguably better than anything I've done, but I'm not too impressed to be honest.

The bullets from your ship move far too fast and make tha game too easy.

You can't destroy the shields.

The aliens don't fire at you.

The game just stops, and doesn't even have an ending message after the level finishes.

I know it's a demo but there's a lot of stuff you'll have to sort before it finishes.

Still it's a good start. Looking forward to the finished game. :)
