kinda fun in parts, but I won't return

I like the twist on the tired dress-up genre.

The characters were kinda cool.

I first played 'very hard', after a while found the fact that I had to shift tiny dots annoying, then played easy.

To make it a fuller game, you should really have a button that checks for you whether you've done it correctly or not. Have all pieces check if they are within, say, 40 pixels of where they should be. Maybe have a bonus for if they're within, say, 25 or 10 pixels. When we click the button, it could say, 'x pieces correctly placed'. x pieces within 25 pixels! X pieces within 10 pixels! And maybe a little firework animation should play for if we've got them all roughly, within 25 or within 10. (better animations for if we've got them all in more exactly.)

I really think that hard/very hard should have false items. Keep the things we need to drag big - if I had difficulty with the dragging itself, I'm sure children would too.

It's a cool idea. Reminds me of
deedz.net/bandpicgame.php?roun d=newgame
(although that game assumes knowledge of Project Rockstar's band pics, it might inspire you).

Was kinda fun in parts, but I won't return in its current state. It's definitely something you should think about taking further forwards.

viviornetier responds:

yes it does when you go to another difficulty and back to the one you were in it returns in its state :d
it's basicly a dress up game and the examples are there as examples you don't actually have to recreate it :d
and for the small parts i'll put them in my next update ^^ ;) and wrong parts to ^^ thx's for advice :d

it got a bit boring

Seeing the various new power-ups for the first time was fun. The new gun turrets were a nice little reward.

By the end of level 3, though, I got bored of it. The whole thing was so easy as to be practically mindless.

Later on, when I had 5 turrets and was firing 3 shots at once, I found that if I clicked too fast, the bullets would disappear before they exploded. I presume you only allow for a certain # of duplicated mcs. A better solution may have been to have an 'overheating' thing to stop us clicking that fast. Also, that way the game would have been a bit more strategic.

I was hoping you'd add new enemies, maybe faster moving ones.... really though, with 5 turrets and the speed the bullets fly at, I can click fast enough that unless they moved ridiculously quickly, nothing would pass through my shield of bullets.

Maybe you could implement slower-moving bullets, maybe put a cap on our firing rate... it's too easy with no real rewards at the moment.

Or maybe you could use this as a starting point for a music generation game? Like maybe have different coloured lines, which would play different sfx? And maybe the height they're at when we hit them would change the sfx?

Around level 3, after I'd seen everything, it got a bit boring. I played until 600250 points, disappointed that nothing else came up.

fun for a few goes, but I doubt I'll return.

I liked the way you avoided 'spawning death' by having everything start in one corner.

The +/- system was kinda cool. Maybe you could give the +s a few points value (50?), so there could be some strategy in picking them up when we can afford to.

I found that having 30-odd circles bouncing around, having the framerate drop to silly levels... it got irritating. You could maybe have the circles disappear and be replaced by larger ones or something, to avoid the lag?

Also, you should take us to the main menu after we submit a score. The highscore table is messed up.

I prefer my own version with the homing circles.

It was fun for a few goes, but I doubt I'll return.

Cool visual look, but I really reckon you should k

I liked the design of the flying creatures and the music-players also looked cool.

I think you needed to add more to this. Maybe have it so when we roll over the musicians, they zoom in? Maybe have it so when we click on the flyers, they fall down?

I liked the spotlights and the whole visual look made me smile.

When link was pulling at the sword, it looked more like he was stroking it than pulling it!

Also, you should put in credits. Accredit yourself and also all the songs. What's the song that plays after the choir?

The songs all seem cool, though a bit longer than needs be for this.

Cool visual look, but I really reckon you should keep working and add more to it.

The songs were:

Some Choir, I forget
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Art Star
False Media - The Roots
Life Of Arctic Sounds - Modest Mouse
Legend of Zelda Hyrule Castle Theme

Horribly limited.

Played this to see what your earlier submissions were like.

Disappointed when I failed to encounter the pic featured in the icon.

The banana tune was amusing and I liked the way that there was a sorta puzzle in 'completing' the game (although the opening text gave away the answer).

Shocking animation was fairly well done, though most others were simple and kinda bland.

I felt kinda bad for the little creature and it was all too limited really.

The 'feature' here was chuckling in a sadistic manner, and I'm just not that guy.

like most dress-ups, it's just way too limited to

I kinda liked the diversity in the costumes - I liked that I could dress him up like Kung Fu Carl from College University.

I also liked the Hindu headscarf and devil gear.

Have no idea what the big blue thing, that starts off in the top-left is. What is that?

The song was cool, but really should've been credited.

Jesus looks kinda angry - specially when he gets the specs!

Anyway, I liked the 'game' and the costumes, but like most dress-ups, it's just way too limited to keep me entertained for long.

In some ways the best NG submission,

In some ways the best NG submission, I downloaded this and am sure I'll be using it regularly for some time to come...

The lack of a 'random' feature in the NG portal always bothered me so I loved being able to stick this on and listen to a random selection of tunes.

In the downloaded version, I love the way it's so easy to check the submission and review, rate or check out the artist's other stuff from there.

Shame that there's no easy way to do so with the online version playing in Firefox.

Browser issues aside, it'd brilliantly designed with practically all the functionality I could ask for and a fairly intuitive interface. The 'skin' goes perfectly with the NG style whilst maintaining a look of its own. The artist icons are a masterstroke!

My one gripe with the visual side is that there are some functions I learnt about in the 'help' menu (S,F,R) that I reckon there should be indicator lights and buttons for in the main panel. At the very least, indicator lights without having to dig into the 'settings' panel.

Also, the 'random' button kinda seems like it might be for random play. That could be clearer somehow.

If you were wanting to add further functionality, an option to bypass tunes based on certain criteria (maybe if it's over/under a certain length) to make it easier to search for loops or whatever.

Also, maybe an option to play each tune a set number of times before proceeding to the next (say, 5...) or maybe for a certain length of time, with us being able to choose.

It would be helpful if we could line up a playlist of songs to be played. Not necessarily our favourites. Say if we found an artist we liked, it'd be helpful to be able to note some numbers of tracks we fancied giving a shot, then inputting them to come up one after another. Although I suppose we can workaround this and load all the songs, then go back...

Lastly, it'd be a kinda cool feature if there was an option to pop up a window after each track. I probably wouldn't often use it, but it'd just make it easier for folk who want to rate stuff and are just chilling or whatever.

But it's a wonderful utility, with the songs loading in and all the info appearing just as it should.

I'm giving you a 9 not so much for my minor gripes, but for the browser issues. (I am reviewing the version on NG after all...)

Will keep an eye out for future works.

The gradient used to simulate the curved panel and the graphics for the shiny buttons are both impeccable.

Actually giving him those teeth adds to the repulsion-factor.

The little things are well animated and my favourite is #3 - putting his helmet back on really adds to the repulsion, which is what you were going for. #2 was also rather inventive.

The other animations seem a bit predictable though and there's maybe not enough here to elevate it above the toilet humour.

Like the character though and I'm drawn inwards by a morbid fascination. Will keep an eye out for future works.

rating: disgustingness: 8/10

Could be a good game to continue.

Far easier. I like how we can clearly see when to hit the 'moon' and also how we can keep the pump up.

You need to make the meter far more visible though!

I'd have liked to play on with limited lives to see how far I got.

Or maybe play through a series of levels with a ball bouncing higher and higher, until it goes into orbit. And maybe on later levels there are blocks or whatever to impede the progress of the ball into orbit (with it slowing down if it hits them).

Could be a good game to continue.

lacking in either variation or significant decisio

Eventually won, after maybe losing 20 times....

It was an overly simple mechanic with no decisions to be made and the focus mainly on consistently good timing.

I found the way we initially need to work out where exactly the ball must be for it to ricochet a bit annoying. I'd have liked a 'too early' and 'too late' message to assist.

The ending seemed a bit sudden and without any real rhyme or reason - it was a game that really could have gone on forever and the way it was ended gave little sense of a conclusion.

I liked the cheery tone though, as well as the spinning circle for the wheel.

The upbeat loops never got annoying.

Not a terrible game, but it seems too repetitive and lacking in either variation or significant decision-making.
